       @kern @debacle @aslmx There are a couple of issues there:1) owning a domain gives you more control/freedom: you can self-host entirely (need to provide the resources) or host your domain somewhere (you keep the control but don't have to deal with the maintenance/providing resources)2) matrix/resources/VC money: #XMPP is usually more lightweight (resource wise) and is not dependent on "VC money" :-)
