@surfhosting it still feels absolutely ridiculous to me that the Syncthing project has abdicated responsibility for the mobile apps to random enthusiast users, rather than letting them be part of the main org and within the primary ring of trust. It’s a shame Syncthing is the best at what it does, because it frankly desperately needs stewards better aligned with the actual users’ needs.

hot take: Calibre has never been particularly good software, it’s just had the privilege of being the only mature software in its particular niche, we’re well overdue for a decent alternate take on the idea that learns lessons from the chaos of Calibre

Calibre has the functionality and ergonomics of that world record Swiss Army Knife with 87 tools when most people need like five and for it to fit in a regular pocket

@discatte they made little PDAs in that form factor so it doesn’t seem completely outlandish :P

@foone this is like the evil version of IIRC Ruby's integer constants all being stored as memory addresses from a fixed offset

uhhhh I don’t remember if I posted it because it’s not on my current mastodon instance (RIP) but I got this sweet old Vaio lamp on Craigslist the other month, retrofitting it with addressable LEDs (WLED)

the name josh matches the name of the tech contact on historical domain registration records (i.e.: prior to yesterday), and it seems to match reality; I'm inclined to believe this

further speculation; as soon as this third party had control, they slapped analytics onto a series of vibe coded substitutes. if nothing else they now have a lot of statistics on how much traffic zombo had/has while they have it. idk, maybe avoid it for a bit.
