C developers: "Rust's memory safety is not a 'feature' of your program. It doesn't automatically make it better."CVE-2023-4911: "Well hello there!"I don't know about others but security is a pretty big feature in my books!#security #linux #cve20234911 #libc #glibc #Rust #C #MemorySafety

And THAT's why you use compression. This is the language server log from Neovim. It would take 114MB if not for compression which reduced it to a tiny 3.9MB!! Save space, save your SSD lifespan.#btrfs #linux #FileSystem #compression

People complain about #Rust compilation times, and I have to wonder whether they have ever installed packages with #npm or #yarn.

I know I like to talk about #Rust all the time and I'm pretty harsh towards #C, so hey, let's praise some amazing projects written in C for once. My favorites:- rsync- btrfs- Linux- systemd- zsh- qemu- nautilus (aka GNOME Files)- GNOME BuilderAnd many more I'm probably missing in this list. These are just my absolute favorites. If there are some hidden gems written in C, let me know. I'm always looking for cool new toys

Say what you will about #Rust, but I think most people would have to agree that #cargo, Rust's 'do it all' tool is amazing. I love how it brings all Rust's already great tools together under one easy to use, consistent interface that 'just works'. I can't praise it enough!

Little backstory: before switching to #Rust, I used C++. I grew so tired of programming as I didn't like how there was no simple tools for that language. Build systems are scary when you don't even fully understand headers yet. You don't discover formatting tools because it's not built into a single easy to use tool. Testing uses its own tools. Documentation? Its own tool of course.Rust is much simpler for new developers as it has this Swiss army knife that does everything with one tool.

What are headers? Haven't heard of them! Go younger me! I always love looking at garbage code I wrote back in the day 😄 It does still work though, although it only draws the hello world triangle. Boring.

It's fun to think that a mere three years ago, I had only heard about Linux in the context of servers and never used a terminal for anything. The only time I had touched Linux was on a Raspberry Pi for a university project. Some years later and I use Linux everywhere, follow a massive amount of awesome communities, don't use any proprietary software anymore (even ditched my NVIDIA card) and use the terminal almost exclusively. Linux, helluva drug.#Linux #FLOSS #OpenSource

Page on my college's internal website. First off, sounds like a you problem. Should've made sure your website works everywhere. Second, Google Chrome can go to hell. And third, I'm so glad I'm finishing my studies this year, because this is the worst college I've ever seen. The people who work there (except for the ones teaching the courses) are completely tech illiterate. :blobwhat: #TechIlliterate #Chrome #Firefox #OpenSource

@stux Thank you for giving users a choice. I will probably be moving to an instance that doesn't block Threads soon.
