@selea It took me one glance at their documentation to realize I don't want their software anywhere near my electronic devices. "Mousy wousy no worky."Yeah no thanks :ablobcathappypaws:

The #AMD Radeon #graphics card drivers for #Windows work about as well as the NVIDIA drivers for Linux... back in 2015. At least after the latest Windows update there are no more visual glitches when the mouse cursor changes shape, so that's something.Edit: It's still broken

I don't understand the appeal of TikTok-like content *at all* and that bothers me. Don't get me wrong: I absolutely don't want to like that type of content. I just want to understand how other people, often older and more intelligent than me can like it and actively consume it. When I hear others watching it, it sounds like videos made for toddlers with voice effects, looping music, sound effects... All the things that would appeal to eight-year-olds, not fully developed adults.

Sometimes I think about the entire LLM situation, where people are happily having "pseudo-conversations" with... a GPU in a server rack somewhere. It's so absurd. Like, just picture this visually. People are chatting with a GPU as if it were a human being. That's so sad and lonely.I think that's one of the aspects of LLMs that I hate the most. This is just dystopian. Reminds me a bit of something like Blade Runner or Inception where people just want to be fooled.

Found a vintage computer today which had a label on it that read "do not connect to people". I didn't take a picture sadly.I wonder how I would connect a computer to a person? :blobcatthinkingglare:

Also found this thing while looking through lots of tech gems. I have no clue what it is or whether it still works, but I think I recognize the 486 number. I sadly did not rescue it to try and boot it :blobcatsob:(It has a turbo button and a "game port". My PC doesn't even have a "game port". What even is a "game port"?)

@sowth Oh interesting! Was it commonly called game port then? I feel like this is the first time I've seen this. I wish I had taken this thing home with me to learn a bit more about these old PCs. It feels weird studying computers but knowing so little about how they used to be.

@stfn Has never happened with mine. I have lots of problems on iOS though, where the absolute volume often doesn't work.

@fabiscafe I've thought about this as well, but I run the occasional filesystem check and nothing seems to be wrong. Is there a tool you know of that can help validate this?

Second place definitely goes to the "Your Wi-Fi password is no longer valid" issue that has been there for half a year now. Not a GNOME issue, but definitely annoying. Lovely. Maybe it's time to move to Fedora as I can't seem be trusted to set up a functioning system.

The #Jellyfin adventure goes on, now running on a dedicated home server (and no longer on my desktop which is off half the time). I've been wanting to get a home server for a long time but never felt like the investment in the hardware was worth it. Jellyfin changed that and I'm so excited to see what this server can be used for. For now it's only a media server, but that will change very soon. Maybe #Pihole, #nginx, #HomeAssistant...(It's running #Arch btw)#SelfHosting #SelfHosted

Somehow I remember Intel processors being as hot as the surface of the sun, but this one seems to be doing quite well. Maybe because it's a low-power laptop processor... Or maybe because it's in the coldest room of the house. Or because it's idle. Maybe all of them combined.

When your reading app says "4K pages" and you immediately think "why is there a property that shows the system page size"...Maybe I've been doing too much low-level software development during the last couple of weeks
