@thelinuxcast I use mainly the XBox One S controller. It can be connected with Bluetooth, but I use the proprietary adapter from Microsoft. Unfortunately the drivers are not in the Kernel, as it is proprietary and requires an additional module/driver: https://github.com/medusalix/xoneHowever, I cannot say that this is the best way to play, because of this necessary blob. There are lot of people who like to use the Playstation 5 controller, which have official driver support in the Linux Kernel. 1/2 ...

@thelinuxcast ... I am thinking of switching to the PS5 controller sometime in the future. Also the official Nintendo Switch Pro controller has good support in Steam. The only reason why I don't buy them right now is the high price, which I cannot justify if I have already working stuff.Hopefully Valve will bring a Steam Controller 2 soon! 2/2

@tilvids That's why emulation (and piracy) is important to preserve videogames. And I am a believer that illegally distributed games is part of preservation, as stupid as this sounds at first glance.

@BrodieOnLinux I don't know if you saw this, but this article from Oracle is soooo juicy and so fun, it's a dream. I can't believe this is happening. 🤣 https://www.oracle.com/news/announcement/blog/keep-linux-open-and-free-2023-07-10/

@ParadeGrotesque Safari is missing in this image.I am talking about this issue since years. If people do not care and stop using Chromium based browsers, we will see this someday. Since I switched from Internet Explorer 6 to Firefox 1, I never switched back to any other browser.

@ParadeGrotesque Right, but that's also why it should have been included in this image. It's still an alternative. And Safari is independent now, isn't it? I mean in a way that Google does not control Safari, like they control all the other browsers.I would argue that without Safari we had less competition and Google would probably have more "market dominance", as most people would use Chrome on iOS rather than Firefox.I don't agree on blaming Safari for Chrome using it's engine.

@ParadeGrotesque I think Apple cares only what happens inside their eco system and not what happens on the web in general. ios itself do not allow other rendering engines. Every browser must use the engine of Safari. That's a policy on their mobile ios devices, not sure about laptops. So in a way Apple "cares" about their users, but nothing else. Wish Apple would actually care about open platform and the web in general and do more for it. That's my interpretation at least.

@Linux "I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Freedom OS, is in fact, GNU/Freedom OS, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Freedom OS."

@foss_android @e_mydata I use it for my older S7 Edge. Highly recommended. There is also a service called Micro-G, which implements Google services without Google. That is important to use actual Google products, in case you really need to (in example the Play Store). I recommend reading more about this project, as Google is deeper integrated into Android than you might think.

@BrodieOnLinux Brodie this is a very interesting recap of Vim's origin. I was already familiar with the history and yet learned more or less details. 🙂 RIP my dude Bram.

@tilvids @thelinuxcast I understand. Space is expensive to provide, with this much service behind it. I was wondering because Nick seems to not have any issues, that's why I asked. So you cooperate with the creators then, which benefits you too.
