@TechNews Quick question: This article:https://the-orbit.net/almostdiamonds/2022/11/25/toward-a-taxonomy-of-bad-moderation/Asserts that "Pleroma instances" which you mention in your article are predominantly accelerationist "safe spaces" (although the word used in the article I've linked is "eliminationist," the author is talking about accelerationists: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerationism ). As you mention you have started a Pleroma instance, are you aware of this? @PoeticLicenseDK were you aware of that when you boosted this? The about page of the site linked seems fairly sketchy and dark web (drugs and crypto (MLM for techbros) are fairly big red flags). I will be unboosting this article, and suggest you do the same. The honeymoon is over people!

@strypey You realize most of us are still recovering from the abusive relationships of other, anti-social, media sites, right?Sites where, if you posted, you were 1) Ignored (because you were delisted from the algorithm and no one saw what you posted) 2) dogpiled by bad actors, spewing vitriol, hatred, andat best, mockery if you dared to post something factual (the bad kind of mockery not satire) and/or 3) outright banned for trying to fight disinformation and lies. Usually under the false pretence of my account being "spam" when it was spam I was trying to report. That I was actively blocked from reporting. Not that reporting ever did anything at all, even when I was allowed to report accounts that were never ever held accountable or removed for the disinformation they were spreading. We all need to decompress a little, I think. The toxicity was very very real. The damage continues to be very very real, and it still has offline real world effects like the plague still spreading.

@lightweight I've been saying on Reddit's Qult_Headquarters for a year that the American experiment has failed. The only problem is, the contagion has literally infected the rest of the world.

@sj_zero @lightweight Well, the rest of the world can do what it likes, but I am solidly behind door number one, and have been, for about two years or so. I haven't completely decoupled from that mandatory ponzi scheme called "the economy" that wants me to die from COVID to save it, but I've come pretty damn close.Living in a rural area certainly helps avoid being caught up in the middle of large-scale events like revolutions/coup attempts. The knock-on affects, e.g. inflation, supply chain issues, lack of confidence in the politicians at hand (fomented by other politicians in a non-collegial manner), those still affect even people who try and live far away from bad places. The more people who "go off and try to live relatively independently" I think will be the only way the world turns away from a bad end to this all.Alas, the antisocial media websites have literally mushified the vast majority of their dopamine-addicted users' brains.

@kims @gregggonsalves This is exactly why I keep urging people to post links to the h*llscape of a h*llsite via Nitter instead. It deprives the other site of clicks.https://nitter.unixfox.eu/Bonus, you can use Advanced Search syntax to retrieve what you need from your own Twitter feed.I can't delete mine because it's got too much evidence of the #COVID19 #disinformation campaigns from 2021. It's ironclad proof Twitter is responsible for the #pandemic not being over, and in fact, now being unstoppable.

@EU_Commission I see the trolls are out in high volume (for Mastodon, anyway) in the replies.LEDs can run off batteries. Or generators. They use very little electricity.

@bananarama @W9SSN @pluralistic A lot of people who were approved for mortgages the Big Five knew they would default on; so the question is, who's responsible? The homeless mortgage-holders left holding the bag? Or the Big Five banks that lent money to people they knew would default? It may not be sub-prime but it looks awful damn close.

Well, I've finally done it, Mastodon! I have pissed off Russia, China, and Iran SO MUCH they have SUSPENDED ME FROM XITTER. I consider myself VERY accomplished for this, despite the fact we're all gonna die from bird flu now, thanks to Xitter and Facebook and Reddit et al. You can still see (for the moment) the tweets that got me CENSORED here:https://nitter.poast.org/TheSpoonless/And here are the RECEIPTS that PROVE Xitter has SUSPENDED ME PERMANENTLY - the Arkose challenges ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO PASS. LOOK!

1/2 As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted they USED "inoculation theory" to PRIME their plague rats:https://nitter.poast.org/TheSpoonless/status/1792139218128433207#mhttps://nitter.poast.org/TheSpoonless/status/1792139220934394170#mhttps://nitter.poast.org/TheSpoonless/status/1792139223581024272#mhttps://nitter.poast.org/TheSpoonless/status/1792139226735157530#m"They found that providing bothsides to an issue—counterarguments and refutations of these counterarguments—is comparably effective to a one-sided message in infl uencing attitudes, but thatthe two-sided approach confers greater resistance to subsequent persuasive attempts."

2/2 and so this, dear Mastodon readers, is WHY #SciComm accounts on American antisocial hellsites were (and are), since mid-2020, CONSTANTLY being attacked by hundreds of thousands of foreign state trolls spreading disinfo via replies to their INFORMATION tweets - Russia/China/Iran is/was/will continue to INOCULATE their brainwashed plague rats AGAINST REALITY. As the Compton paper explains.Compton, J. A., & Pfau, M. (2005). Annals of the International Communication Association, 29(1), 97-146.
