After the great feedback on my KDE Wayland setup on FreeBSD I'm now going through the paces for Hyprland on FreeBSD. Already have 95% done and dusted; expect to wrap up by tomorrow.A satisfying setup, and I finally got rid of those crazy big gaps between everything. Took me four years to find the solution 🤣 You'll still be able to keep them of course 😜 #freebsd #hyprland

@meatlotion Great to hear, thanks for the feedback! Have it working et al and will provide it in a Codeberg repo, making it easy to get started 🥳

Cosmix-Saigon is up for grabs! It is a custom spin on NixOS, using the Cosmic desktop environment, changing channels and using the latest kernel. It is based on the Nixbook project by @codemonkeymike The goal is to make a set-and-forget setup, where both the OS and the applications (flatpaks) are updated automagically. RMFM and get going, you can find it at (https://codeberg.org/thesaigoneer/cosmix-saigon) and jump into that Cosmic beta!#cosmic #nixos

@BrodieOnLinux Nevertheless this doesn't address the elephant in the room and how we got there. I do believe in the open source supporting attitude of Framework. Nobody questions that. But stop supporting and promoting Omarchy. That's all.

Geek-speak. We chit-chat a lot about KDE 6.5, but if you have Slackware Current+, kernel 6.17.4, Ghostty terminal, Mango (previously MaoMao) windowmanager + DankMaterialShell running quite easily (and Niri is there also), you know you're onto something 😜 cc @jloc0 #slackware

@historyofpunkrock The Specials, with a solid second for the B52's and the Clash clocking in at 3rd. But that's based on 'effect' they had on me 🥳

With all my KDE, dwm, MangoWC, NixOS, Gentoo, FreeBSD, Wayland, immutably complicated stuff it is very refreshing to just download an MX Linux iso, install it in under 10 minutes and have evrything you might want up and running in no time.Well curated, well styled, great tools, you name it. Documentation excellent. What a great distro! A gem.#mxlinux

Gotta say that, having done this a gazillion times on Linux, system and application upgrades on FreeBSD are very smooth. Upgraded to Plasma 6.5.3 and RC 4 of FreeBSD 15 in one go. Running on Wayland, very nice. Close to one month now and gone through all the paces and updates.Followed my own effing manual of course 😂 #freebsd #kde

The easy way out is riverwm on FreeBSD, dots and set-up already available on my Codeberg. The more challenging way is qtile or sway on FreeBSD 15.Let's get out of that slump!#freebsd

@jloc0 Hollow is good for you, ye olde slacker! I have that x86 sddm on Wayland setup for KDE on my Codeberg, works very well. Actually the breadth of Wayland support on FreeBSD is better than many Linux'es. Finally i can say: it's you 😂

The hidden gem. Another one.Did you know Alpine Linux has a vibrant community, delivering the latest desktop environments?KDE Plasma 6.5.4, of course. But also Gnome 49.2.2? And, since y'day afternoon already, Cosmic 1.0? That's the one I'm gonna go for.Unexpected, but really amazing. Don't tell too many people 😂 #alpine #cosmic

Got home early today. Of course I had to geek out 🤣 KDE is under the bus, so I reached for VoidLinux (to add dwl to it later). And hey, other distro's: look at their documentation. Can be brief, but It Just Works. Diligently followed the disk encryption setup, very well written and laid out. A pleasure, I love runit. And VoidLinux, another great distribution.#voidlinux

Told y'all before: FreeBSD has the most exciting and full-fledged stack of Wayland compositors and applications. Most exciting part of Mangowc: switching between tiling and scrolling with one keybind. And a ton more, to be discovered by yours truly. Enjoying it a lot so far.#freebsd #mangowc #maomao

Actually, with Slackware Tilers (Sway, Niri and River) and my laptop with VoidLinux and DWM all my computer needs are taken care of. Other setups have hardly been touched the last couple of weeks. Will 2026 be the year to do more with less?#slackware #voidlinux

@justine I have the config and should give it a longer go also. Don't know if it does scripts like rofi but I only use it as an app launcher anyway.

Updated the codeberg.org/thesaigoneer/freebsd-mangowc repo. Still a lot to do, but at least the most relevant things are there, including the mango configs itself 😆 Also the sw selection has been amended, including yazi and foot now.cc @wickedlester #freebsd #mangowc
