       @sean I have no idea either but now I’m thinking about when my wife turned down an interview with Amazon in 1995 because neither of us could quite picture an online bookstore. Really I meant it as a prompt for people to think about how the principles of the #fediverse might apply to restructuring commerce. More self-determination, less selfishness and filthy lucre.

       @sj_zero @sean Honest retailers have long sold things at a loss to get people into the store where they will buy things that make up the difference and turn a profit. Monopolists sell things at a loss so no one else can afford to compete with them on cost.

       Okay, earlier I saw the headlines about the strippers at a club in LA unionizing, but just now I actually read an article and discovered they are joining Actor's Equity Association, which is the union for stage actors and stage managers. Right on. Good for Equity to not shy away from this. Sex work is work.

       @marick @siderea @blair_fix @inglada @pluralistic Keeping the literal Nazis from the nearby Aryan Nations compound out of our punk scene was a real challenge. Some of the younger kids joined them and one went to jail for committing a hate crime murder. Yeah, most of us were anti-fascist but to see punk as having a built-in ideology is a mistake.
