@grammargirl I think it's partly because "youtube video" never got a short, sticky name like "podcast". When you said "(vidcast?}" earlier, it just didn't feel right, did it? Even "twitch stream" feels better.

@grammargirl I just listened to the comparative/superlative podcast and thought of an interesting case where it's comparative between one thing and a _set_ of other things: "better than SOME, worse than MOST". What do you think?

@grammargirl I've only done small or direct contracts a few times; I usually hire or work with an agency or pass-through that handles the billing and payments. That said, the times I had to chase payments myself were terrible, and I can sum up my experience in two points:* I'm willing to be paid less money so I can keep more of my time.* Being confident of being paid slower is better than being unsure of being paid at all.

@grammargirl Enjoy your new monitor! Is it curved? I have curved 32" monitors for gaming and work. Flat monitors look weird now, like they are bulging in the middle, so I "had" to buy a second monitor. Brains are weird! Not replacing the desktop might mean you'll be stuck if the laptop fails or has an accident while you are traveling. You might want an affordable backup that's ready to go: another laptop, mini computer (like a Mac Mini) or a beefy tablet.

@grammargirl I've had support calls that START with "I appreciate your patience" which I took as "Welcome to Customer Service Chat Hell". That was exactly where I ended up. Ugh.
