@twitnews the amount of followers is irrelevant if they're already DAUs or bots. Gaining DAUs on a platform that is losing $/user is not going to help them right the Titanic. The real problem is that they've lost so much ad revenue and they're not going to be able to replace it with the pay-for-check system.

@djsumdog @jerry people can only watch this so much, can only see so much pain, before the weak "thoughts and prayers" response merits something more than Roberts Rules of Order. "Riot is the language of the unheard" (MLK) and this was far from a riot.

@djsumdog @jerry I have my CCW and own firearms but still support the "well regulated" part of the militia. I also DO NOT CARE about the Constitution in one bit. It was a parchment written by slaveowners who wanted to protect their rights and saw women and people of color as property at best. The mere idea that they were people is a literal afterthought. It's archaic and no longer fits the world we actually live in so no argument on the basis of "but the constitution" holds any merit with me. The world that saw that document drafter could never have imagined me typing this communication on a slab of magic glass in my kitchen.

@jerry I had a misunderstanding with a big twitter personality once. I hated that they took what I said different than I said it but ultimately they blocked me. And I *left it alone* because it is always someone’s choice whether or not to engage with me. It’s not a hard concept

@freemo @jerry without affirmative action, all that they have to do is remove college credit programs from majority black schools, or similar. Anything that can take a checkbox away from students and keep them out of the school. Those policies were put in place because these schools looked like a sea of rich white faces. Your bio says you work in AI and ML models. Don’t you normalize a dataset?

@freemo @jerry you just advocated for removing pressure from the wound because nobody is ready to suture it. Affirmative Action was a stop gap and never far enough to address the systemic inequality. It wasn’t perfect but was a help. I don’t think it “fixed the wound” but it helped stop the hemorrhaging and gave some people an opportunity in the mean time.
