@Gargron I absolutely love IKEA's adjustable sit / stand desk. Combine that with a Alex drawer unit on the side, and I have way more space

@Gargron I've been on Windows with VMs for the last few years, because wrangling Linux video drivers was too much for me.are you playing Overwatch on Ubuntu? How is the driver situation these days?

@SarcasmKid these days, his character in Twins scares me more. Did I only inherit all of humanity's flaws?

@alcinnz the trick with `#myToggle:checked ~ #myToggledUI` was worth the read alone!I don't think I can agree that it's "plain and simple" when you have to trick the UI into clicking that checkbox by abusing the `<label>` tag. But I really like it in principle, and I would love to see this formalized in a more intuitive way.

@matrix I felt uneasy about the bogeyman stuff for the same reasons, but I think the approach of teaching children though storytelling is very valuable.I don't think you have to "fabricate a false reality" in order to show them a morality play. Unless you mean any irrealis mood, in which case I have no idea what to do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@noelle I dunno, that's like saying a minstrel show is only racist if you accept whatever. A character can be problematic whether you believe in the stereotype or not. That said, I've never been sold on the idea that they're Jewish caricatures.

@noelle what I'm saying is that something can be offensive regardless of what you think. Requiring the viewer creates a very easy out for anybody to say "I'm not racist, I didn't see anything wrong with it"

@noelle that doesn't really seem to address my point, and I'm not sure what you're talking about beyond just restating your thesis as if I haven't said anything. Let me try again. Are you suggesting a Jewish person who does take offense is wrong to do so and should feel differently?

@noelle in that case, isn't that like saying "it's okay for you to be offended, even if that thing is factually not offensive".Is that not a patronizing stance to take? Serious question.

@clacke @kensanata @amolith I get what you're saying, but i think there's some additional nuance. Colon cancer is highly correlated with meat content in your diet, and apparently blueberries are negatively correlated with both colon cancer and heart disease. That doesn't mean you should worry about it, but we have more impact on cancers through our diets than I would have expected before researching!

@forAll52 @realmaxkeeble I'm aware of the origins of "you", but I thought they/hem/hir were always third person plural! Can you point me to some historical grammar reading?

@mal I grew up playing classical piano, and I can have an emotional relationship to music without lyrics. Tone poems, for example, are meant to evoke imagery or narratives without lyrics. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphonic_poem

@djsumdog @WagonStar @eightbitsamurai The original was the same for me, but have you tried replaying it? It's hard to put up with 20 years later, IMO.I'm hoping that this one will let us experience the best parts of the story without the worst parts of 90s JRPGs.
