@MultiBitcoiner So far I haven’t granted Signal access to my contacts. Makes me nervous to do that.Is there a way to be certain that it’s safe?

@MultiBitcoiner It seems that giving them my phone number would allow them to easily tie things to my real identity.Maybe they can’t read the content of my messages but it seems like they still have the metadata of who I messaged and when I messaged them.If I grant them access to all of my contacts then it seems like they can begin to construct a social graph where they know who the communicating parties are and the frequency of the communication.

@telekinesis @MultiBitcoiner if they give them my entire phonebook then it seems that they can determine every person and organization that I have a relationship with even if I don’t ever message them on Signal.

@MultiBitcoiner I can code a bit but definitely not enough to read through and understand the source.Signal’s website doesn’t have an answer that explains things to my satisfaction.But am I to understand that there is no central server required for informing me that someone in my contacts is now on Signal? Are they hashing people’s phone numbers on-device and then server-side are comparing hashes only??I’m sure you don’t have an answer for me but I’m just asking the question.
