@spolsky I think understanding where a project is heading in terms of added features and being able to futureproof is really important. Basically being able to anticipate when/what abstractions, frameworks, patterns, etc. will be necessary in the future.

I'm 100% pro-reasonable taxation, but *nothing* brings out the libertarian in me like paying taxes on a 1099-based income. Just watching that number go up and up as I add up all my contracts for the year is hell.

200+ caramels which will be chocolate dipped tomorrow, because I apparently *really* appreciate the mothers in my life.(I actually really do, that's just a lot of caramels)

Dipped more chocolates tonight. Roughly 150 more. I am never doing this again. Molds from now on.

TIL about possibly the worst named non-profit. It's based in Boston, builds and manages low-income housing throughout the US, and is called Preservation of Affordable Housing. The organization is called POAH. They build POAH Communities.https://www.poah.org/about-poah I sincerely hope they're good/equitable property managers, and if they are that's wonderful, but good God what a name.

Free game idea: a work-game in the vein of Hardspace: Shipbreaker where you're a renovation contractor doing demo on people's houses. Most of them are normal, but every once in a while you get a house that's really creepy, or you find Nazi material in some hidden drawer, or you accidentally uncover a forgotten torture room. It's a creeping horror game. #gamedev

I really liked Shipbreaker, but one thing I wish it had was more environmental storytelling in the individual ships. That's a lot harder with procgen levels, so I think this game would need to have a significant amount of properly designed levels.

My dad was a surgeon of some renown. I never took to the trade, but I'm glad I inherited some of his skills.
