@amiloradovsky@stereophonic.space there is a certain boundary between suffering and stoicism which is often blurred. challenges seem to be an important part of 'character development', challenges might involve some suffering. self-inflicted suffering might with a some planning / luck serve for oneself's own good, constant self-punishment - rather not. Say, I deliberately don't plan a ton of details when I'm travelling and often opt for rather moot routes / connection options, sometimes this can be pretty painful or expensive, sometimes you learn a lot about how to behave in difficult situations, sometimes you remember to never do this thing again.judging who and why deserves suffering is another level of complexity and imho is only possible in a few specific cases and should generally be avoided.therefore, pushing the idea that someone 'likes' or 'needs' suffering indeed seems to be super nasty, but as all complex lies do it has some truth in it.
