@APoD this APOD seems especially interesting. I can't believe they catalogue over 1000 potentially hazardous asteroids. Also it makes a very cool photo.

Even as someone not in the EU this is exciting to me as it will hopefully force these companies to make global changes.Google and Apple being unable to lock people into their ecosystems sounds especially great along with Apple needing to allow people to use other app stores (though I plan to continue using Android). I think this is a great step towards a more open future and I wish other countries would take this as an example of how to support their citizens in an increasingly digital world.

I hope more people start to view Tor as a useful tool that helps in all sorts of situations (and is a super interesting piece of software), and not just "that criminal hacker browser"I thought this article was well written and helps to destigmatizehttps://www.engadget.com/tor-dark-web-privacy-secure-browser-anonymous-130048839.html

Community Linux servers are great :blobcatowohappy: wish I knew about them earlier. On a side note kind of related, Debian seems pretty cool and I want to try it out soon.

I realized most of my posts here are just me commenting on articles every couple of weeks :blobcatlaugh2: but it's fun and I don't know what else to say so..

I am glad media is starting to tell it how it is. There’s too much avoidance in acknowledging the devastating effects of climate change and it needs to stop.Sure the article sounds extreme but it’s unfortunately accurate. It talks about how in 19 of 66 Emperor Penguin colonies “most if not all of the chicks are believed to have drowned or frozen to death when the ice that once supported them melted into the sea.”Animals are dying, people are dying, we are in the middle of a massive human caused extinction. Why do we let this go on? For industrial profit? It’s not a good enough reason.80% of observed colonies have no surviving chicks. It’s not going to get any better next year. One of the researchers said that ice models and penguin population projections estimate a loss of over 90% of the population by the end of the century. It’s reached the point where the horrible statistics have become the norm. People start to just shrug and think that’s how it has to be or they can’t make a difference. Statistical numbing is a real thing, at a certain point the bad is just too bad to comprehend. But we need to acknowledge it as that is the only way it will get better.#ClimateChange #Climate

Whelp I tried to install Debian but now "operating system not found" will trouble shoot tomorrow :neofox_pensive: I found a pretty promising stack exchange post about it, though if it doesn't work out I have an excuse to try Solus.I didn't think I'd distro hop a lot but it's way too fun and a good way to avoid problems while learning about different distros.OpenSUSE was great but I wanted to see what else is out there (definitely might go back to it), I liked Fedora but it just felt off. I did find that I really liked Xfce though so I could go to using OpenSUSE with Xfce which I hadn't done before.

@captainepoch thank you for the recommendation :) Alpine seems quite cool. Maybe sometime I'll try Arch too but not yet
