I really love the feel of older urban cities. They feel so much more alive than even many urban centers in the US. It makes me sad how dead our cities feel in comparison to these centers.

@noondlyt I mean I think this mostly makes sense. You can have a domain as your username and you can use either an existing domain or get a new one (I have my domain as my username for example). I don’t think that this is necessarily antithetical to decentralization.

@noondlyt that’s fair, I think I would agree if it was about the same amount of effort to implement the two. I think this is a simple “referral for new domain purchases with namecheap” compared to implementing their own domain system. I think if I was in their shoes I’d do a similar thing because it’s a quick win that makes some money and enables me to focus on other things.

One of the things I'm trying to think through as a #FediAdmin is whether we want to federate with #Bluesky and #Threads. @ireneista the fundamental problem with the theory that open source can be sponsored well by corporations is the fact that fundamentally the incentives are driven by private equity and an unhealthy disregard to any investment in meaningful security/privacy/system integrity. Rationally it would make sense, but we’re in a system driven by greed.
