@p @Squeezetube @graf I think this copycat was so unoriginal and with the abortion and Ukraine thing in the media it won't get as much attention. 4chan is probably safe this time - and also because it probably gives all user data to the feds 24/7.

@lain @crunklord420 My dad hasn't been to the dentist in 30 years and his teeth are better than mine. He doesn't drink coffee though.

@crunklord420 @eternalclassic @josh Delta Force use (or used) Glock 19s. I heard it from Larry Vickers himself!

@crunklord420 @josh When NATO standardized on the 5.56 (heavier than .223) in the early 80s, the use had to change the twist rate on their M16s I think. I read that the switch to a heavier round was give enough counter momentum on the FN Minimi bolt to run the thing.

@crunklord420 @josh I think the new twist rate was on the M16A2

@crunklord420 @josh SS109 is the proper designation for the round.

@crunklord420 @bot @josh This is a bad explanation. Length generally increases muzzle velocity to a limit. Essentially, the longer the barrel, the more time the force from the expanding gas has to push and accelerate the bullet down the barrel. The force from the gas reduces with pressure, which reduces with volume and thus barrel length. At some point, the force from the gas pressure will be less than friction and no longer accelerate the bullet.Once the bullet leaves the barrel, the gas pressure no longer accelerates it, and so shorter barrels accelerate the bullet for a shorter ammount of time. Energy is 1/2 mass * velocity^2, so faster bullets have more energy along power of 2 curve. Putting energy quickly into the system you wish to disrupt (enemy body) is key destroying it.

@crunklord420 @bot @josh Also, fragmentation has generally been more important to 5.56x45 mm rounds for depositing bullet energy into the target than tumbling. If it passes straight through then so does a large amount of the energy. Tumbling is how the 7.62x39 mm round deposits its energy.

@crunklord420 @bot @josh The lead and steel core might not but the copper jacket often comes off creating fragmentation like effects. Depends on your definition of fragmentation.

@crunklord420 @bot @josh The M885A1 round the US has adopted as of late seems to do something that looks like fragmentation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBdVGJT5ezYAnd I'm pretty sure the higher velocity ammo used back in nam did similar. The SS109 was more about penetration and cycling the minime, so maybe it stopped having the effect, but it was one of the reasons they US adopted the M16 in the 60s iirc.

@crunklord420 @bot @josh I remember reading in Black Hawk Down the delta guys were wining about the 5.56 not putting down the sammies (in the movie they called them skinnies but in the booke sammies, I'm guessing after Sammy Davis Jr.).
