@3dcandy literally the creator of #ActivityPub @evan (who ironically when Musk just bought Twitter called all users there "evil" while people were just trying to use a social media channel)https://cosocial.ca/@evan/110602643890554637

@futurebird I don't know why, when I first passed me I read "soul types" but having looked at it, I don't think it's wrong either 😂

We've now got to the point that trying to read anything on the internet is absolutely pointless

@futurebird we were talking about it this morning - that these people have never had to interact daily with public transport, or public-private transport (e.g. taxis) - for the sake of their lives. They don't understand it.This is why to them every idea is new, even when it's just a worse version of the existing ideas

Right now, here is the real problem - all the major cloud vendors are US companies. Even with data centres in Europe, these companies will be complicit in whats coming - like IBM of the 1940's - they will enable Project 2025 to fulfil it's needs through technology. They've set the whole system up so their is no choice, and Europe has been absolutely useless in setting up anything independent of this.

@stfn not only that, but SaaS providers need to start providing EU data and service residency as well.

@futurebird this is why I'm picking up as many books as I can these days - as many as I can, before they got tainted with reprints. History is contained in them that cannot be erased by enshitification or digital rot.

@strypey yea that's what gets me. These economist are literally told to read this stuff, and somehow have managed to completely misunderstand it. Meanwhile, me not an economist has two copies of the book and completely understands this

@interfluidity Neutral. Like any cultural phenomenon, its corpus will likely contain more bad than good - but one question could be "does the good outweigh the bad?"Likely I'd caution yes, TED talks have brought some wonderful, insightful and inspiring people, along with some of the worst and strange ideas, especially at their less covered TedX talks - I've been to one, and it was mostly OK, but it had some of the rationalist and skeptical groups that tended themselves to be a bit fringe

@strypey you mean things like a home furnishing solution seller that is a franchise system, that's part of a group that's actually owned by a charity foundation.... ðŸ«
