For the Pixel 7 Pro, are there any camera apps out there, preferably open source that come close to GCam and all of its optimizations? Anything close enough to warrant switching?

@wally3k @GrapheneOS I'll think on it. I really like the night mode and some of the optimized features of GCam. Plus on my main profile, I only use the Google Services Framework with no network permissions, and shut off the network permission on GCam and Photos. So they should be able to wreak havoc on my personal data. But I'm still gonna keep an eye on the Graphene Camera

@10leej my preference is Arch simply because I like to have complete control over what packages are on my system and not have anything extra that I didn't put there myself.

@10leej I don't have any experience with Gentoo, just don't think I have the hardware requirements to compile it in any reasonable amount of time. I'll take your word it might be better. I know I get stuck with plenty of dependencies on Arch. How does Gentoo handle dependencies that makes it better than Arch?

@BrodieOnLinux the thing that you made an April fool's joke about doing is what I actually did. I had been running Arch with DWM close to a year and a half. Last week, I switched to Fedora, stock Gnome desktop with a few tweaks. Why? Two reasons. 1. Vanilla Gnome gestures on MacBook, chef's kiss. 2. The wake from suspend issues was a showstopper and the biggest reason I made the switch - all rendered a moot point because all I ever had to do was roll back the Kernel. The good that came out of it now is that now I have a proper /home partition which I did not have before.

@josh 10.0.0.0/24. I unfortunately use the stock Xfinity equipment. I bought their xFi extender pods years back to get solid connections in my attic which I use for my office. I haven't tried pfsense but I did install openwrt on a D-Link router. But I went back to stock for the performance. What's the difference between pfsense and something like openwrt/ddwrt?

@10leej legit. I was on a Pixel 7 Pro for 2 1/2 years but the frame bent slightly and the screen broke. I now have the Pixel 9 Pro XL on Graphene. I have a replacement screen coming in for the P7P which I'm going to re-purpose for a project. I'm attempting to port Kali Nethunter to it, which will run on top of LineageOS

@thelinuxcast I care as much or more about the Lakers losing as I do the Celtics winning.

@10leej @GrapheneOS the web installer makes it a breeze, just use a chromium based browser, follow the instructions and you're golden!

@10leej @GrapheneOS awesome. It's funny I use my grapheneos mostly as a "normie" phone. Google and everything. But I take advantage of the extra permission controls, storage scopes, etc, to give apps the bare minimum permissions they need to function. To me that's it's true power - the ability to have the best of both worlds.
