@tek @szakib Sorted it now tek, thanks. Turns out it just doesn't seemingly appear on my mobile browser. Weird, but not an unexpected bug.

I'm very very confused. I heard a very loud pop from the right side of my desk. Like, capacitor sized pop... But nothing smells like it's burning and nothing is not working...

@tek you mean I'd have ended up somewhere with a more regulated climate? Well sure shit!

#introductionHi, I'm Swamptin. I'm a mountain biker/cyclist and infosec enthusiast. I have a blog, it kinda flip flops between dormant and active.I have notions of projects and far more projects started in my head than anywhere else. If I find an extra 8hrs a day, I'd love to actually try some of them. Or even just see them made.

So I've had a notion. I've an old Thinkpad T410. We have a NAS that has all our wedding photos on it. Has anyone managed to repurpose a laptop screen into a digital photo screen with something like a raspberry pi? And if yes, do they have any pointers or a guide online?I've admittedly only had a quick glance around hackaday, so I've not exactly hunted a proper guide yet.

Today I have learned that an independent bookshop in town is into cruel and unusual forms of punishment.Memo to self, never shoplift from Chapters.

@tekIt turns out there are fates worse than death. And at least six of them involve reading works written by a randy auld bollix as he experiments with the English language.

@tekThat's a level of commitment! Fair play. I never actually finished either Ulysses or Finnegans Wake. I started both. Both were exercises in self torture. Figured I'd read something a little less taxing so picked up Zen and the art of Motorcycle Maintenance instead. 😂

@tekOh that's really funny. 😂 I bet those neighbourhood BBQ evenings went on for hours and hours.Actually that's another book that has so far beaten me, Lila. The follow up about morals while travelling canals. It's quite heavy with the philosophy. Our maybe it's just less accessible to be because I don't care much for boats?

@andrasteYeah, it's interesting alright. I noticed it this morning when Tusky had a notification on my phone time stamped an hour later than fedilab. And this test has shown me that too. I will get the updates in my notifications tab when it refreshes, but the toast message to my head not yet appeared. 🤷🏼♂️

So when introducing a child to music... Is it considered uncouth if we shortcut them learning about the wealth of music history and just sit them down with a copy of Paul's Boutique? The Beastie Boys basically sampled everything in that album, right? So like, a solid understanding of it and the implications of it should set baby Swamptin up for life... Right?

Tonight I'm attempting to make wings for the first time ever. I'll be honest, I'm cheating on all counts. My dry rub is cajon seasoning with baking powder and I'm cooking them in an air fryer. I will report back with results and if I'll be making any alterations in future.

So father's day is tomorrow. I'm going to race one of the XC mountain bike rounds. Mrs. Swamptin decided that this morning we could do father's day stuff and gave me two beautiful hand drawn cards, one from her and one from baby Swamptin. And, matching outfits! So a lovely little onesie for mini me, and a shirt for me.Best first father's day ever. All thanks to Mrs. Swamptin! She is fantastic, we've really gotten lucky me and baby Swamptin.

So tonight friends of ours minded baby Swamptin for the first time. Me and Mrs Swamptin has our first 'date' night in forever. Went to a Mexican place we like. The Tacos were class, but the real reason you go is the deep fried ice-cream.

So, I've had a notion to run a very very basic "Intro to digital security and privacy" in my local library when they reopen. I've yet to ask them, but I assume they'll be cool with it. The target audience will be just regular people in the community, so I'm gonna probably have a more accessible title.Aside from the EFF Surveillance Self Defence list, and countless NPR/Watch Mojo style listicles... Is anyone aware of a good resource as a jumping off point for topics?

So I've finally decided to try out LogSeq. It's worth noting that it is at least Open Source. Which makes me feel better adding it to the pile of other "Knowledge tracking" pieces of software I have used over the years. (I've use two now that are open source)From what little of it I've played with it is actually really cool for the way I think I think. Potentially far better than other solutions I have attempted.
