It appears I have my very old student loans, which I took out some 25 years ago for student teaching, forgiven. There is a zero balance on my account now. I had consolidated them recently in order to qualify for the SAVE program. It has been a godsend, and that is because of my age now. I don't know how many more years I can work. I am 69 years old now.

I paid for everything else, undergraduate and graduate degree, out of my own pocket. I had to take the loan out in order to student teach since I couldn't work a full-time job and do that. I did have a part-time job three days a week to also help out with expenses.

It was actually four days a week, so I could qualify for Nevada PERS, from which I receive a small pension today and have for 13 years.
