@Jagahati @DameAshley “emptying the mind” to gain “enlightenment” or to be closer to God is not a new idea. Jesus spent much time alone in prayer(Luke 5:16). I don’t think he was going off to solve theoretical physics issues. He was emptying his mind to gain a closer relationship to God.

Secondly when Constantine made Catholicism the religion of the Roman Empire, he fused many of the pagan religion with Christianity to make it more palpable for the people. That is where things like eggs and rabbits for Easter (fertility), evergreens representing eternal life for Christmas, rosary beads, statues in temples etc etc all came from paganism.

And can you believe how much milk is now?” It’s about emptying your mind of worldly issues to have a single higher focus. Same with yoga and meditation.

@Cbrooklyn112 @DameAshley @kgibson you must be a blast at parties. Constantine was replacing 1000s of years of tradition with a religion that was less than 400 years old, I think there is an adjustment period allowed. Those on the other side (the non-Christian side) felt the same as you do about early Christians, that’s why they were persecuted, burned, and killed, so at least we know what side you would have been on.
