@kemonine @chuck I've started seeing pacific shippers use re-shippers out of canada.

It's kinda sad. One of my core criteria for SBCs is "can I readily find 3d models for cases and/or mounting kit"

@jbob I'd rather print and modify new and interesting cases.

I need to figure out, at least, a database solution for the cloudlet. I was going to put postgres on the m4. I really don't want to put a whole NUC in to the cloudlet.

@kemonine the m4 that reboots when it gets a little warm? postgres isn't the problem. the m4 is.

@kemonine Unknown. I'm not worried about postgres. I've run teensy and huge installs of it prior. This is more about figuring out the right kit for core services that really shouldn't sit in the swarm.

@kemonine The first immediate need of those services happens to be postgres. there will be others. shared storage is still high on the list.

@kemonine I'd rather just figure out this piece of hardware. Jumping through multiple iterations is just sysadmin busywork.

@kemonine I'm looking at the rockpro64 right now. They've got a swanky metal case that has a heat pipe directly attached to the rk3399. it also, in theory, runs openbsd pretty easily. I'm seeing forum noise about folks getting panics though. Obviously, it'll run linux ok

@thegibson We only think we're safe. We assume that rule-breaking folks are always doing it with neon signs and press releases. I'm more concerned with the quiet ones, the "persistent" in APT

@SinaCutie @thegibson All the way back to statusnet, they've been here. They do provide helpful fodder for the sections of fedi that need to have a weekly "THE FEDI IS BURNING" freak out. At least they're contributing something back.

@tek @kemonine Or "get a tiny xanax prescription because you obviously have some damn issues that could probably be addressed without MORALITY coming up. But yeah, either way, pick a calming substance, consume copious quantities, and realize that life is too short to spend it building insane powerpoints about subjects you know nothing about."

@ryen We were the first house built in our division. They literally built a dozen houses directly around us. One day, as they were driving excavators around the house and dropping dumpsters and supplies all round us, my partner looks at me and says "ignoring liquefaction, it seems our house can withstand a level 2, maybe 3, earthquake".
