My favorite thing every year at #SCaLE17x is when I make my donation to the #EFF. This year it came with an awesome soft zipup hoodie. I am not sure how many on Mastodon get the importance of this organization but Lawrence Lessig pointed out years ago we pay companies (home internet/LTE) for crap service that actively participate in trying to spy on and limit our basic internet services in efforts to control the market and us. When you support the #EFF you support freedom of technology.

@danceanddestroy my advice to people is don't make it harder than it really is. Mastodon is really just a way to micro-blog without the forced violations of privacy that people think are convenient in other social platforms.
