My greentextWhen I moved to America, I didn't know anything, including foods. So, one day I went to Safeway and asked what was inside a cake. They were somewhat taken aback by that question, but after some consultations among the bakery workers, they found a cake that was partially eaten by a rat. The inside of the cake was easy to inspect, like layers of the Earth crust in children's book.Of course, I saw dozens of American cake slices since, of various kinds.

My greetext bis(possibly redundant, I feel like I shared this before)When I moved to America, I hardly spoke English. So, one day I went to Burger King and tried to order "a whopper" (a burger basically). They did not understand me. So the clerk said, "no problem, wait a moment", went into the back, and brought a guy who spoke Spanish. It was obvious for them that if I didn't speak English, then I was a Latino. Had to be!I resolved to improve my English immediately.

My greentext terThis is not you gringos can relate to, but something in my wife's face makes every Mexican think she's a Mexican. They often say "Buenos" and try to talk to her.So, one day she went to an adult school to study for her U.S. Citizenship exam. Of course the class was full of Mexicans, who naturally tried to speak to her in Spanish. When she said that she didn't speak Spanish, one large Mexican lady folded her arms and exclaimed: "Oh yeah?! And what language DO you speak?!" in a challenging tone. The mistaken Mexicans tend to think that she's trying to pass for an Anglo and is snubbing them, up to getting very offended.

Seen a funny move by a Tesla. We have a stop light 50 ft inside a school zone. The Tesla stopped at the school zone line, well ahead of the stop line. Even a Tesla driver is not that silly, so I suspect the FSD took the school zone line for a stop signal line.

I ate the final piece of the Thanksgiving turkey just now. Almost managed to drag it out to 6 months by splitting it up and freezing. But it was too delicious.

@pwm @sun Yes, although I thought it referred the viral post of a young woman showing a head of cheese that a young farmer presented to her with an intent to court. So we actually have two women-and-cheese memes, if not more.

I watched Train Time IMAX at Bullock Texas History Museum. The photography was breath-taking.But you could immediately tell who paid for the production, when they started lauding the PSR (Precision Scheduled Railroading). The claims about efficiency of trains were wildly over-inflated too.But overall, the agenda was not overpowering. IMHO, Train Time wins over Living In The Age Of Airplanes, because their ostensible subject matter takes the center stage. But in the other movie, at times it's unclear if it's about airplanes or about wonders of nature.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGaICCyXQyM

@sun I had a clot under my knee. They put me on blood thinners. Fortunately, I was able to get off those. But now I always wear compression socks and do simple exercises like leg raises every day without fail. Also, a machine keeps me alive (j/k ... or not). I use it every day too. Real talk: it's not needed. If I had enough brain power to make myself exercise properly, it would not be needed. So it's basically a machine for retards:https://www.amazon.com/Sequential-Compression-Air-Massasger-Circulation/dp/B00YHYMSRS/

The storms are moving in from the west, swelling the Guadalupe river. Fatalities start out at Hunt, where they had an RV park and people were swept away in capmpers. To make it worse, it was all in darkness. Kerrville saw a 29 ft crest by 4 a.m.#texas

It took me 30 years, but I have finally became addicted to coffee. My withdrawal symptoms are not lack of energy, however. Instead, I feel a heavy head, potentially high blood pressure, and even nausea.

@deprecated_ii @PurpCat @Paultron-3030 I may be wrong on this, but I think Lineatronic I and II must be cared for, because they are the only CVTs in the industry that use a real chain. The metal-on-metal contact in them requires a specific fluid for longevity. So this is probably why they retain the drain plug.

The Formula 1 movie with Brad Pitt was good. They went easy on the usual Hollywood sex and violence -- refreshing.https://www.imdb.com/title/tt16311594

I saw a Vinfast with Texas plates today. Unfortunately, my dashcam rolled over and there's no image. But either way, the future is here. Possibly a bleak one, but it's here.

@Heil_Honkler @deprecated_ii Precisely. I once watched a somewhat decent cooking competition on TV. You know, all the top chefs from all over the world... Two Aussies in their 50s crushed the opposition.

Apropos flooding in California: if I cannot stick the bottom, I don't ford it, even in an emergency. A flow strong enough to sweep me off my feet is strong enough to drag my jeep off the ford into a bog. Pictured: I'm sticking a ford.
