@10volt @ErikUden only if you're not blind and have the requisite 512-core CPU and 4TB RAM for the major Wayland compositors.Accessibility and desktop choice sucks: until those are fixed, Wayland is not a replacement.

Got #SpicyPillow ? This Hema HX-2 does! Not the first time I've encountered this… I wonder if it's the same battery type as the HX-1?

For what it's worth… the HX-1 we had did the same thing… but took longer to do it. I documented the battery replacement process.https://vk4msl.com/2020/12/20/replacing-the-battery-in-a-hema-hx-1/

First look inside the patient… looks like the battery is half the size of the one in the HX-1… _and_ of course, they swapped two pins around, so I will _have_ to snip wires this time! But at least they marked the pins clearly.

       Measured up the cell… 90mm×72mm. Let's see what's available as a replacement.

Looks like this might do the job. It's a bit hard to measure what the thickness _should_ be… but it looks like there is 6mm of space inside the case.https://core-electronics.com.au/3-pin-lipo-battery-for-pijuice-4000mah.htmlThe other option is a 1000mAh cell, but it happens to be 7mm thick, so I think this is the safer choice. As a bonus, it's an upgrade.

…and this should solve the pin-out mismatch problem…https://core-electronics.com.au/2-0mm-pitch-3-pin-cable-matching-pair-jst-ph-compatible.htmlThere's another one that just has the socket, but two problems: it uses a different colour coding which could lead to confusion, and if it turns out the socket isn't compatible with the plug on the cell, I'm stuffed. At least if the cell has an incompatible plug, I can (carefully) snip that off and splice this one on.

Thank-you QSSTV for shitting yourself right before a station began transmitting an image… forcing me to terminate you with SIGKILL, and taking so long to re-start that you missed the whole bloody transmission.

For what it's worth… I'm on #40m doing #DRM #SSTV.I've had a couple of contacts now with analogue SSTV, but not yet with digital.I did a test using the KiwiSDRs available… piping the audio received into QSSTV on my laptop as my Pi3 transmitted… seems right now my broadcast radius gets me about as far as around southern NSW… but isn't quite making it into VIC.Of course, as the sun goes down, propagation should increase.

The delay between SIGKILL and re-start on the Pi3… just happened to coincide with this transmission:https://botsin.space/@aregsstv/112370103111101581I received that just fine on the laptop via the WebSDR, but of course, the Pi3 was being recalcitrant so I didn't see the signal my end.

Well, there's my #COVID19 shot done for this year. Numbers were elevated around Brisbane, so probably good timing before the autumn surge.

Fun and games this afternoon… we've had now about 3 power glitches in the building (Park Road, Milton). Not long ones… but enough to cause a server to reboot.

Well… seems #DRM based #SSTV does not like #80m static crashes…My attempt at receiving a DRM signal via a SDR in northern NSW on #3633kHz.

On the flip-side, analogue SSTV seems workable somewhat on 80m (#3630kHz LSB).
