@karolherbst I can't help but feel it's code for "support my use case or else" 90% of the time, especially when one customer's paying the bills or contributing back and the other isn't.hell, you could boil it down to "what Linux are you talking about?". The kernel is notoriously opinionated, and a single user kiosk or embedded device is still "linux" but about as far from user choice as it gets. the linux ecosystem is flexible, and in theory you can choose to do anything you want, but the practicalities of maintaining every use case ever, especially for the peanuts most oss maintainers run on, make that difficult. I don't want to say it's in bad faith most of the time, but a symptom of people seeing linux as a singular product like windows or macos. I feel if a bsd got big enough to be a daily for your average user it'd see the same problems

poky the repo, not to be confused with poky the reference distro or pocky the snack or meta-pokylet alone yocto the organisation vs yocto the tool collection vs meta-yoctoand the fact that oe-core != yocto except for when it is (linux-yocto)naming is hard

@cas ah, nice!! grats on landing those u-boot patches upstreamanything that means you don't need to rebuild the entire boot image just to change the cmdline or have 40 different disk partitions is a win in my book :neocat_laugh_sweat:

@adrianyyy @cas @fossdd @z3ntu @newbyte @lanodan @pabloyoyoista i see that as a path to a joyless, almost obsessive insistence on sticking to a few select devices then community has declared 'chosen ones'if I was told "work on OP6 or do pine64's job for them", I'd sooner leave. not why I'm here, and I'd rather the project have clear messaging on thata contributor feeling comfortable enough to play around with a device is the on-ramp to having them work on more things in the future. sure, they may become unmaintained, but I don't see that as unreasonable as long as expectations are set accordinglygranted some stick around and some don't, but them's the breaks with all FOSS projects, the kernel complains about drive by commits often enough
