       @clive @smartwatermelon well now I think this would make a great Vision Pro app experience. Stationary in a labyrinth, all you can do is turn to hear where in the gloomy maze the faint “waka-waka-waka” is coming from, and feeling your terror rise and fall as it gets closer, then further… until a gaping yellow maw rounds the corner, moving inexorably closer, and then everything goes black.

       was discussing with a coworker this morning our preferred terminology to use instead of “AI" since there is zero actual intelligence behind it. I think I'm going to continue using “spicy autocorrect" and "plagiarism generator" for now, depending on context.

       My apartment complex is replacing my upstairs neighbors’ AC unit. Unfortunately, that is out on my little ground-floor patio. Even more unfortunately, that means they need to bring the old unit out and the new unit in through my apartment. More unfortunately still, that path takes them through my bedroom. I understand it needs to be done, but I am still less than thrilled about heavy, dirty machinery having to go through my space…

       As a heads up, apparently on October 4, 2023, FEMA and the FCC will conduct an emergency test alert, which will impact all phones, radios and TVs. It'll happen around 2:20pm EST. Figured it may not be a bad idea to alert folks in advance.        for transparency, I've tweaked the original message to read as a bit less fearmongery to me... I didn't want this to turn into a wild FEMA chase. I'm mostly looking to alert readers both in sensitive situations where a phone needs to stay secret for complicated personal reasons or for my friends who can find unexpected loud noises are a source of stress.
