@Teri_Kanefield His hindsight was also pretty good during the phone hacking scandals 10 years ago. Pity his foresight hasn't improved. https://www.theguardian.com/media/2011/jul/15/rupert-murdoch-apology-milly-dowler

@lps I'm sorry but this is nonsense. Michelin isn't the first with this idea. They're not even in the first 10. Airless tyres are one of those things that keep getting re-invented every 5 years or so. And they never ever ever work as well as pneumatic tyres. 1st problem: How do they stay on the rim? Pneumatic tyres are kept secure on the rim by the air pressure within. 2nd problem. How do you vary the hardness/softness to change the resistance of the tyre for varying road conditions? Answer is you don't. With pneumatic tyres you simple raise the pressure for smooth hard roads and lower the pressure for gravel or sand. BTW: I have had 2 punctures in the last 20 years of motoring covering over 200,000 kilometres. The secret is to buy quality tyres, keep them at the correct pressures and replace them when you still have some tread left. 80% of punctures happen within the last 20% of tread life. TLDR: Pneumatic tyres are one of the great underrated inventions of the last 200 years. Airless tyres will NEVER be as good and will NEVER replace them.
