Thanks to #feedly it looks as if it's time for us all to promote our favourite #rss reader! It's *definitely* not going to be for everyone, but the Emacs based Elfeed is simply the best feed reader I've ever used.https://github.com/skeeto/elfeed#emacs #elfeed

@galdor See https://hachyderm.io/@molly0xfff/110113208809822962I used to think not that being able to seamlessly sync to mobile would be a deal breaker, but I've found I'm actually much happier this way. I sync once a day, focus more on what I'm actually doing, and when on mobile read things I want to read rather than mindlessly scrolling through new articles all of the time.If I do get stuck on mobile then I have various views onto my Elfeed database exported out to HTML and synced onto the device daily. Sure, I have to manually sort the read state out later, but that's not been a problem for me so far...

@lauren be thankful that at least you can vote in another president. We're stuck with this mad regime.

@mms use whatever you like! But Emacs does shells too right? VTerm was a life changer for me.

@toddsundsted I used to share your pain - and then I unbound that key-binding (why would you want to exit #Emacs anyway?). And besides, there's always M-x save-buffers-kill-emacs if you really do want to escape for some reason 😬

@jameshowell Mmm, perhaps that's a plan to increase the popularity of the mighty #Emacs - just add more cats!

@timthelion @carcosa registers are indeed a wonderful thing, because you can put so many different types of things in them, and because setting and getting them is so fast. The problem with this change is the need for the extra return key - we might as well just use bookmarks.

@louis @timthelion @carcosa yeah, that's a really useful feature. I initialise a bunch of registers in my init file for quick jumping to a variety of remote hosts using tramp/SSH. Quicker than using bookmarks which is great for something that I do many times a day.

Yikes! Just mis-typed into #Emacs #Elfeed and ended up asking #Firefox open my entire "to read" list at once. 178 new tabs later and I'm amazed that nothing has crashed! Good work all - apart from me that is - I'd better go and practise my typing some more :-/
