@rgegriffWe can't forget that the whole concept of copyright doesn't exist to protect us from the bad boys, but to protect the bad boys from us. What happened is that we got screwed by them and resorted to using copyright in our own advantage to protect ourselves from them as well.But we can't forget that the goal should be to abolish copyright and intellectual property for everyone, instead of weaponizing copyright even more to protect us against them.

@stuxWhy would you want to block all the people on an entire instance from being able to see the content you are posting publicly? I am not understanding what's all the drama about? Aren't we posting publicly because we want people to see our content? Sure, #Facebook sucks and they shouldn't exist. But their users also just rolled into #threads and 99% of them don't even know about #Mastodon, why would they not be worthy of seeing your content? If anything it could motivate them to join us..

@futurebirdThe non-transferability sucks though. You're travelling, your phone gets wet and you buy a new one, now you need to somehow convicne your ISP that you're you. Second factor SMS? Can't receive? Better come by our store. Great.

@planettimmyAlso, because it's software, it just doesn't work. Lol. Stick a physical SIM into your phone? Done.Try get an esim? First of all can't scan a QR code from your phone's screen and inserting the code manually just never worked for me. While travelling I already twice had to ask a random person to take a photo of the QR code so that I could take a photo of their phone 🤷@futurebird

@cthululemonI forgot the name, but there is a project that built a #Bitcoin wallet that runs in a smart card and you interact with using the "SIM Toolkit" app. The smartcard stack is proprietary though and I've heard you have to write #Java without access to a heap 😅@futurebird

The way to make money in capitalism is by blocking or eliminating your competition. Monopolies are the way to win capitalism. And who can grant you a monopoly? @ademan Hey, cool that you're looking at BIP-127! The second part of the BIP (the proof metadata format) is definitely more like a draft.Also, the reserves tool was abandoned before it was in any way usable, so don't give it too much credit. It was also my first Rust project..Apart from these disclaimers, it's a good point that it's not easy to validate that all signatures have SIGHASH_ALL.. But it seems like your approach to malleate is a good approach!

"This bike is mine"-style property isn't a problem either."This factory is mine so all the proceeds of it are also mine"-style property is a problem."You made this bike and I pay money to buy it from you"-style exchange is also not a problem. With land it obviously is a problem.

@fedilab @apps#Fedilab is getting worse and worse in the last few months. The thread view is totally messed up. You press a comment in your home timeline and you get brought into a thread where it's impossible to find back the comment you actually clicked.Also, the thread view often has the OP and many comments duplicated somehow.And just now, the context menu button to share a post etc disappeared and I just can't find a way to share a post to an external app 🤷 what's happening?

@futurebird Yeah, different views on what really is capitalism is an obstacle in convincing people it is problematic. I often hear people say it means free markets. IMO though it is a market disturbance.The word capital-ism centers around capital. It is a doctrine in which the owner of the capital used is the legal right-holder to the product of labour. This is IMO the simplest description.
