@joshtpm Does it work better if you think of the content warning as a headline, and a click through to the body?

@tilvids @mozilla @nextcloud Last time I checked >85% of Mozilla’s income came from selling access to their users to Google. Picking a fight with a google cash cow like YouTube wouldn’t be a great idea.

@Raspberry_Pi @james This is going to be the post described as "doubling down" when the post-mortem on "RasPi's Very Bad PR Day" happens.

@shadowfacts Yeah. Graphql is a _dream_ for the client. It can be a nightmare to implement on the server, let alone to do so efficiently while supporting arbitrary queries.

@cliffwade Debian. Ubuntu, but with fewer bugs and less bloatware.

It’s always #DNS, or an expired certificate. Or both.My mastodon TLS cert won’t renew, because it can’t authenticate the dns-01 challenge to acme, becausethe updated DNS record is only visible on the primary server, not the secondary, becausethe PostgreSQL replication of the dns data to the secondary has failed, becauseit fails to authenticate with the master server, becausethe TLS cert it uses to authenticate has expired.Computers were a mistake.

@selea Because Postgresql is my single point of truth, so using native replication makes more sense.

@simon A second independent copy on backblaze B2 would defend against what you’re concerned about. And it’s just another S3 compatible system so it should be easy enough to do.Glacier would defend against other sorts of failure. Maybe both?

@simon I’ve been using https://github.com/python-jsonschema/check-jsonschema to validate data against a schema. It’s fine, installs from homebrew, has already found several bugs in my data pipeline.

@simon Sounds like cel might work. https://github.com/cloud-custodian/cel-python is a python implementation.

@simon if you’re ruling out owning a domain because it requires a payment every ten years (which isn’t unreasonable, but is a high threshold) then you’re also going to have issues with any “hosting” company. Do I trust Microsoft to offer free web hosting for “idle” users who never log in for decades? Large providers are already terminating email addresses that haven’t been used for a year. So … no.Dedicated archive sites? Perhaps. A legal trust to maintain hosting?

@simon OTOH my 20yo LiveJornal content was still there the last time I checked. And you can still find my 35yo content in Usenet archives, even though Google killed the main one.I don’t think you can predict the behaviour of any tech organization 20 years ahead reliably enough to be useful, unless the org is structured and funded to make it easier to do that.

I really wish that back in 2013 when the engineer designed the chip that everyone uses to power their two wire led #xmas tree lights they’d made “all-on, no-flashing” mode 0 instead of mode 7, so you didn’t have to hit the button seven times on each string of lights to stop them from flashing every time you power cycle them.

Half-watching Crufts, and they have so many breeds I’ve never heard of. As a judge I’d be all “that’s definitely a dog, clearly a good boy”.

One of my software vendors just notified me they fixed a bug I reported in 2014.I’m kinda impressed by the persistence of their jira instance.
