Ok, I've activated caching for posts as well, but have to do some tests. Sorry for this noise 🙂

Ok, I've activated a nginx cache for both posts (/p/) and static (media) files (/s/) and the (/p/) should cache in a different way, considering the type of request (web or json).I'm testing it now, then I'll try to modify the message to see what happens.#snac #snac2

Back to the VM.From yesterday's commits, I noticed good performance even on Raspberry PI, but now that it's back on the VM, the performance is incredibly excellent!#snac #snac2

snac2 has reached version 2.44, which is stable and undoubtedly suitable for more comprehensive use.In the coming days, I'll likely declare this instance as stable and include it in BSD Cafe's services. It seems a bandwidth problem. Sometimes the VPSes say "1 gbit connection" but actually are really slow, especially when sending out stuff.@OpenBSDAms@bsd.network is a very good choice, I like their approach and their way of operating.

As for migrating: just remember to add -H to rsync and everything will be ok (I've been moving files from NetBSD to OpenBSD to FreeBSD and back and snac2 didn't complain at all)CC: @OpenBSDAms@bsd.network

Quite small on snac2 as it doesn't cache remote media.On the Mastodon instance, purging remote media after some days, numbers of the storage aren't that high: less than 100 GB (more than 100 users)CC: @cablespaghetti@blahaj.social @fedops@fosstodon.org

Snac2 is an excellent software solution for accessing the Fediverse. It is lightweight, very easy to compile and install, has minimal dependencies, and the development is progressing along a clear, clean, and logical path - thank you, @grunfink@comam.esSince last December, BSD Cafe has had, among its services, a snac instance - https://snac.bsd.cafe - which has been used sparingly, mainly by some for testing purposes. I’ve kept it as a 'testing' option.In light of the interest it is generating (we now have stable users) and given that development is evolving to allow for both inbound and outbound movement, I have decided to designate it as a stable solution for accessing the Fediverse and to consider it a primary service of the BSD Cafe.It has always received the utmost attention, I have consistently updated it promptly, and it has always been accessible, but I have also modified all the descriptions to clarify that it is a stable and definitive solution.For more information, there is always a dedicated page on our wiki: https://wiki.bsd.cafe/snac.bsd.cafeStay Tuned!#BSDCafe #BSDCafeServices #BSDCafeAnnouncements #snac #snac2 #Fediverse #Mastodon

I’m thinking of creating a small instance based on snac, linked to my blog, to automatically publish new posts and, possibly, manage comments...#snac #snac2 #fediverse #ITNotes

Exactly one year ago, I launched the snac instance of BSD Cafe: https://snac.bsd.cafeSome users gave it a try and decided to self-host. Others have kept it as a secondary account, while some use it regularly.Happy anniversary, snac.bsd.cafe - and thanks to @grunfink@comam.es for the ongoing development and improvement, always staying true to the principles of simplicity and integrity.#BSDCafeServices #BSDCafe #snac #snac2 #Fediverse #SocialNetworks

@ben@kwiecien.us #Mastodon, #Pleroma (#Akkoma, etc), #snac, #mitra (in a different way - see here: https://mitra.social/objects/018f869d-bf1c-63ae-0d9b-b3887629f5df) surely support following relays.GoToSocial, if I'm not wrong, doesn't support it (yet - it's in the roadmap): https://codeberg.org/superseriousbusiness/gotosocial/src/branch/main/ROADMAP.mdCC: @gyptazy@gyptazy.com

Hello everyone, we are introducing a new rule to ensure the smooth and fair moderation of our instance: Do Not Block Admins or Moderators.Open communication is essential for a healthy community. Blocking an admin prevents us from performing crucial duties, such as:Informing you of a report made against your account.Issuing a warning.Discussing a potential suspension or appeal.This action effectively cuts off the official channel for conflict resolution. To ensure moderation is transparent and that you always have a chance to respond, this channel must remain open.Blocking an admin or moderator will be treated as a refusal to cooperate with the instance's rules and will result in an immediate, irreversible suspension.Thank you for your understanding.@stefano@bsd.cafe#BSDCafe #BSDCafeAdmin #BSDCafeServices

A quick announcement for everyone at the BSD Cafe:we now have a dedicated moderation account: @bsdcafemod@bsd.cafeIt’s the barista’s moderation handle, here to help keep the BSD Cafe cozy, friendly, and true to its spirit.You might see it step in occasionally to handle reports or keep conversations smooth, but most of the time it’ll stay quietly in the background.Give it a warm welcome, and remember: kindness, curiosity, and good BSD vibes make this place what it is.#BSDCafe #BSDCafeAnnouncements #BSDCafeUpdates

Hello! I love #snac and I use it wherever I can, even in projects like #FediMeteo. For the BSD Cafe, I'm happy with the snac instance, and it's been online for a long time, but today I would still install Mastodon as the primary instance, and I'll explain why: moderation and user management.Moderation, on snac, is necessarily less comprehensive than on Mastodon, and consequently, it becomes much more difficult to handle issues with it. Reports as understood on Mastodon do not exist, and as a result, the outcome might be detrimental even to other instances.That being said, if you have a community with a small number of users (although the number of users is relatively important, given that the largest FediMeteo instance has over 1200 cities/users) but, especially, if they are trusted, you can go with snac. If you need a more complete solution, perhaps it may not be the best solution (yet). I tried Friendica and I like it, but not enough to have a clear opinion on how it performs with larger communities.Mastodon, once you understand how it works, is not complicated to maintain, but, like all stacks, it needs to be fully understood to avoid problems (e.g., cleanup, etc.).
