Banned for 74 years (!) for offering constructive criticism to another #lemmy user about their over-use of em-dashes -- wtf is going on lolI've never had any other "sock puppet" accounts and [this](https://lemmy.world/modlog?page=1&actionType=All&userId=3311143) is my modlog

@clacke I think this joke is going over "my" head. The person in question has obviously pioneered and mastered human cloning without publishing about it, right?

@raiderrobert this mixed paradigm approach is part of why python has been so successful. In some ways it is more deeply rooted in OO than Java by having the primitives be full classes with methods but then treating everything as a first order object allows you to deploy functional techniques like closures and currying. It doesn't get everything right but often feels like the best of both worlds.

@vikingkong @raiderrobert not list comps. python is functional because you can do things like this where functions can pass each other around:def multiply(x): def closure(y): return x * y return closureclosure_result = multiply(3)(4)

Re: Midlands Police using AI to make operational decisions. Certain professions should be banned from using AI until the underlying model no longer hallucinates(I.e. is not based on LLM). Namely civil servants and any legal or law adjacent profession. We can't afford to have civic life controlled by buggy software. There's a new Post Office type scandal brewing here.

@bbcnewsfeed Dodging paedophiles on myspace bebo was a formative experience growing up! In all seriousness though, the main issue with online safety for children is that parents fail to treat online spaces like they would other public spaces; leaving them basically unsupervised. This could be resolved by having a single family PC in a shared space in a home like a living room.Would also help if parents could be bothered using the plethora of parental control options available.
