Very niche question, but I suspect someone in the fediverse will know all about this. I'd like to know more about the hardware used for the temporary chimney, flue and stoves used in papal elections to make the smoke come out. All I can find is information about the chemicals they use to make the ballots burn black or white, but I want to know more about the chimney. Do they use the same one every time? Is it kept under lock and key by a holy order of monks?

Something that I think those in power have forgotten is that things like the right to protest, strike provisions, human rights legislation, etc are the *compromise*. By stripping those away, it's just as illegal to march from A to B as it is to drag them into the street and beat the shit out of them, and that's usually a damn sight more effective.

My uncle had what looked like severely metastatic cancer in his lungs but in great news biopsy shows what actually happened was at some point in the last 20 years he inhaled a bit of clingfilm and didn't notice it.

The other night as I was trying to sleep a DJ was playing noisy EDM and eventually came on the mic to introduce himself, turned out it was a cis man and I was shocked to the core because I am so metropolitan elite that I forgot people who aren't trans girls can make horrible beep boop music, too.
