@penguin42 I had the same risk when we upgraded ours, the wiring was 50 years old and there was still severe damp that had only just been repaired, some of the sockets were badly corroded as a result. Still, worked fine for a year or so until we ended up re-wiring the house proper.

@penguin42 ours was similar, most rooms had 1-2 ring sockets and lots of badly installed spurs. It was all PVC T&E so cables were stiff but acceptable. The problems were things like junctions points that were simply wires twisted together and wrapped in old tape but I'd rather know they were there and fix them. Having proper RCD protection saved me at least once after drilling through oddly routed spur lines, so worth the potential headaches imho.

Wife, not on fediverse (afaik), spontaneously mentions mastodon in conversation in context that a soap star on birdsite talked about migrating to it. WTF is going on, these are normal everyday people. Not the usual freaks and geeks (no offense)

@matt oh lawd I remember when @stephenfry was one of the most followed users in the early days of Twitter, if not number one. Probably directly responsible for a few fail whales. That kind of following could crush even dotsocial. There will be a need for battleship sized instances for celebrities like him.

I've kept the same personal #email address for over 15 years. Its been ok spam wise on avg but in the past few months spammers have been using my address on hundreds of web forms that bounce the message back to me and its becoming a torrent. Considering abandoning this address and trying one of the catch-all methods to block compromised addresses but it sounds like it might just end up being more administration than it's worth and I should just accept email is akin to cleaning out a septic tank.

@penguin42 theres something about this technique they seem to have adopted using PHP forms online, they send one message and spam two people, the domain is usually properly configured so all the DKIM elements shave off spam score and it usually flies under the radar because the spammy language isn't weighted high enough. Could spend a long time adjusting things and never get it quite right
