India's GDP growth in Q2 was 4.5 per cent - compared to the average Q2 growth rate of 7.74 per cent in same quarter in the preceding 7 years -- decline by a whopping 3.4 per cent! Buffoons who talk of "sequential" growth no neither statistics nor economics. Which self-respecting economist or journo talks of "sequential" growth? Haven't they heard of something called seasonality? https://www.business-standard.com/article/economy-policy/india-s-gdp-growth-slips-to-4-5-in-september-quarter-on-weak-manufacturing-119112900750_1.html

This is a thread on a racket called #FasTag What does Modi hai toh mumkin hai mean? Matlab hurtle towards #FasTag to create even more roadblocks. Remember NaMo's DeMo, of November 2016? This is NaMo's December gift.

#FasTag starts on the backfoot -- postponed to Dec 16. Now who does not remember a million notifications that were issued after NaMo's DeMo, each more complicated than the other? Who does not remember the postponed weddings? Remember how ATMs were not calibrated for weeks to handle those lovely pink notes? #FasTag is speeding on the same road.

And, don't let anybody fool you into thinking that it is merely an "implementation" issue. It is a scam because the Govt has made #FasTag mandatory, while forcing people to a privately owned platform. Like NaMo's DeMo and #GST #FasTag fiasco is not just an "implementation" issue. It is designed to fail, while the sharks operating the platform go laughing to the bank!

This is a thread on the #FasTag fiasco - why the intentions are dubious and why it deserves to be classified as a scam. A longer version will appear on the Frontline website soon.

While the NaMo Govt would like us to believe that #FasTag is meant for the convenience of users, the real reasons appear to lie elsewhere - particularly the notoriously opaque revenue streams from road projects. Road project concessionaires are known to not indulge in gross cost padding - which translates directly into higher tolls - but divert revenue streams away from their loan obligations, which has brought only grief to banks, especially PSBs

Powerful business czars usually prefer backroom channels to voice their grievances against govt. That usually works for them. What Bajaj says is a measure of the environment today. Yes there are precedents from the past that NaMo acolyte rhetoric tries to mask.

In the past too - before the NaMo regime came to power - many captains of industry have, however, spoken their mind, usually to express something that bothers them, but couched as reflecting a greater common good. The most obvious examples are those by influential IT industry honchos - Azim Premji and Narayana Murthy come to mind easily

What makes #RahulBajaj ’s statement unique is the fact that his utterances were of a very general nature - about the general politcal atmosphere in the NaMo times. That is rare for an industry captain. On the spate of lynchings across the country, for example, I can’t recall a single captain speaking out.

A truly inspiring story of journalistic enterprise and commitment in #CAB -hit NaMo times from Frontline's Sushanta Talukdar: He somehow managed to dictate the entire story to his son in Jodhpur. The son accessed his father's email to file his copy. Read it in forthcoming @frontline_india issue
