i wanna screamMy plugin depends on a library that depends on Version A of a common library. The core software I'm plugging into depends on Version B of that same common library. Core and plugin-dependency have no knowledge of each other, never ever ever make any reference to each other's internals. VERSION A AND B ARE INCOMPATIBLE AND COMPOSER CAN'T INSTALL THEM BOTH TOGETHER BECAUSE NAMESPACE CONFLICTS THIS FUCKING LANGUAGE

@nautilee it is working now, there appears to be a combination of mutually compatible library versions which I didn't see before. I do need to make the dependency library work with them but it's not a drastic update I don't think.but ufffffffffI'd really rather be doing this in C#

Got the words OpenGL and GPL collided in my head into OpenGPL.To imagine some faction finding the GPL insufficiently open and making their own license distinguishing itself on that line is somehow both 1) hilariously absurd and 2) dangerously plausible.

I don't know what to make of advertising. Google, Facebook, and Twitter, all multi-billion dollar companies make it (and its efficient targeting) their entire business model. Ads are perpetually getting denser, louder, more abundant. You hear about the attention economy, and brands as personas, "you are not immune to propaganda", "today we will eat at mcdonald", but... how effective is it really?

I have adblock, I don't watch television, my primary social media is Discord. Not to claim immunity, but I really have cut down the total acreage of advertising space in my life and that's gotta count for something. If sassy brand Twitters are the way they "get us", then why does the conventional advertising still exist? Is the whole thing, as financial history has shown can perfectly well be, an industry of smoke and mirrors?

I search on Google, they perfectly well have the capability to filter information getting to me. I doubt my adblock is so smart that they're the slightest bit hampered in getting any information they want about my browsing habits. I am advertised to, even if less than I could be. If any connection exists between my purchasing habits and ads I've seen, its incredibly subtle... most of my spending is to the geographically nearest grocery store to my house on the geometrically cheapest brands.

I dunno, it's such a huge part of capitalism it seems irresponsible to dismiss advertising as relatively harmless noise, but either a) it's somehow extracting money from me in completely invisible ways, b) my experience is not representative of the people they target for effective profit -- and howdy that thought smells -- or c) its all useless and doesn't actually work. I dunno

God Tumblr is so unusable as an artist now. Not only are my notes dead, but one in like six of my posts still get flagged as porn. If their platform is going to survive, they should be *begging* me to come back. Their platform only has value because of the artists and content creators who have used it.

I haven't done anything with my fediverse project in months, but maybe it's time to get back on the horse. I think there are a lot of improvement that could be made, and I'd like to at least try them out.

My project is a federation extension to forum software called Flarum. And I just keep thinking that a forum is the ideal model for this kind of social networking.A forum is community-oriented rather than timeline-oriented, which I believe is both necessary to the survival of an instance and a genuine advantage over conventional social networking. And I think the fediverse would be a lot more enjoyable to use if it had something like a forum's categories.
