@iska @Nyoelle Using Nix on the top of Guix :D At least for a few programs that aren't available in the Guix repos. But does Guix actually do anything better than Nix? From what I see, Lisp is about the only tangible advantage.I'm occasionally pondering about switching to Nix, but Nix looks even more intimidating than Guix was in the beginning. A lot of stuff to figure out again, and my current setup works well enough, so I'm staying here for the time being

@Nyoelle @david Just imagine, at some point in the very distant future, aliens open up the former GitHub's Arctic Vault, pick a random piece of code of the species of intelligent primates that once inhabited the planet, and what do they see... :D

@splitshockvirus Geez, how? Does China use some AI to detect which sites to censor? It's remarkably sad that's even possible

@hochata @mitchmarq42xyz Yeah, that the interesting question.I couldn't find a way to check if a terminal is launched from Emacs or not, so I ended up doing (setenv "IS_EMACS" "true") just for that purpose.Although it may be that can be checked by the parent PID or some other way I haven't thought of then...

@sj They're supposed to be IT journalists, right? And I think I've seen some in-depth articles there on how various vulnerabilities work, so this is just... strange

@Jdreben @ruud Hmm, the question is how it's going to work. The most non-invasive way I can think of is force subscribing everyone to an ads bot. Other than that, it sounds like ads would require forking Mastodon to inject something in the user's home feed... Although I may be wrong there. And users would have to have some other incentive to use the instance that would outweigh the ads.
