       I'm old enough to remember when photographic driving licenses were introduced in the UK. One of the arguments against it was that it would become a de facto ID card used for purposes beyond just proving entitlement to drive. Amongst its current uses: a gateway to be able to engage in the most basic democratic act of voting. If you really believe this or later governments won't use this digital ID for purposes beyond checking entitlement to work, you haven't been paying attention. #ukpolitics #IDCards #Starmer
