So this trade war is damaging everyone..But yeah, Donald go for it, tax the fuck out of the USA with your insane tariffs, make your imports so expensive that they are unobtainable while simultaneously failing to ensure supply chains and domestic capacity..Just wait and see what effect a 25% tariff on aluminium has on airplane production..Where are you going to get rare earths from in the short term ?.What about the many other things that the USA must import because there are no domestic resources?.Diamonds, coffee, chocolate and a score of others?.But the really, really bizarre thing is the thinking behind the trade war..Trade is not the reason the USA has a debt. Overspending is the reason you are in the deep doo-doo, your country's inability to live within its means..You (sovereign) spend more than you earn. So either spend less or earn more....Here is a tip, spend less on your military, 4% of GDP is clearly unsustainable....Either that or implement an effective tax scheme....Get big business and the rich to pay their fair share....Bankruptcy will not solve your country's problems, even if it makes you, personally, and your mates richer. .But people are watching, and they are not amused. The grim reality that none of the major parties want to accept is that the Australian dream of home ownership has died..Albo seems to have such an intense hatred of Houseo's that he will deny a generation of kids the basic right to a roof over their head and condemn them to live in cardboard boxes under bridges..And Spud is even worse..We need to invest in Public Housing. .We need a surplus of affordable, comfortable, spacious, energy efficient housing built-to-rent..Permanent, reliable, attractive rental properties well connected to services and public transport..Not means tested, open to everyone, available to all, so we don't build ghettos..Strict and enforced penalties for sub-letting. These properties are homes not business opportunities..We need to house the homeless, we need to cool the rental market and we need to defuse the equity bomb that could destroy the economy if the balloon ever bursts..What is the point in having a market where one million people are homeless and two million properties are vacant because no one can afford to live in them..Stop stoking the fires of inflation with assistance to purchase and build homes where people can live.

#auspol #housing One of the things that astound/annoy/frustrate/perturb me is when a political apparatchik asks me:"what do I think of their leader/policy?".AND I reply: "They/It are not suitable" (or words to that effect).....Their response is inevitably, to walk off in a huff and ignore my feedback..I feel that this is the major thing wrong with modern politics. People don't want to listen or take feedback..Both the LNP and ALP housing policies are terrible. They will only drive up house prices. .We do not need to stoke demand in a supply limited, overheated market..We need to cool demand and massively increase supply..Well the country does, if we are serious about housing the homeless..But of course property speculators don't want this, they want prices to go up..So here is the rub, almost every politician owns property and is speculating. And we are asking them to make a decision, that will negatively impact them personally, for the good of the nation..Yeah... Good luck with that....Roll on the day when we have one million homeless and two million vacant properties that no-one can afford....Humans...

#auspolOne of the great things about voting early is that all the hype and bullshit becomes a low drone that I have no need or interest to listen to..So looking in from the outside, it is all a bit comical. Dutton changing policy on the fly, flapping arms, like those inflatable men outside car dealers..I will be disappointed in Australia if he wins. But we will survive it. Albo and others would have you believe it would be the end of the world if the LNP were elected..Ha..What is at stake is that neither major party is doing anything serious about tackling climate change..By that I mean ending fossil fuel extraction..No New Coal.No New Gas.No New Oil..Sure it would not be good for the poor if the LNP gained power. But does it really matter, if in the long run, noone does anything about climate change..Rich and poor alike will die in climate catastrophe. Just look at the recent Californian fires, mansions and hovels all burned..Floods don't look at bank balances when they are sweeping you away..So if you haven't voted. Do it.But be clever. Find out what the candidates believe, what they stand for.. Just remembered, an asteroid can end it all, at any time....So don't panic.

Hamas should release all the hostages and disband immediately, and Israel should withdraw and relinquish all plans to annex Gaza..But neither will happen, the genocide will continue. The civilians will pay the cost. And Hamas will grow stronger, both inside Gaza and outside..The more Palestinians Israel kills, the more Hamas martyrs they create. #auspolI love the idea that the Australian Liberal Party might condemn themselves to the political wilderness for eternity..I hope the RWNJ (Right Wing Nut Jobs) win the day and take the party further to the right..I hope they alienate the moderates and they leave the party.
