@kev @StartpageSearch use Google. Or keep using DDG.There's no such thing as a person less server or app owner and I think us privacy people need to start keeping that in mind. These systems by nature will always have a human who either makes mistakes or is susceptible to making money, because to make money is both sustaining and to survive.

@calebccff favorite person and post of the day.I was complaining to my gf that Linux Mints Bluetooth menu lists "unknown device" tiling 100x+ times down it's menu and you can't even interact with them. I was like "why even show and render them then!?".If I end up settling into Pop! OS or Linux mint I will do work to contribute back to them but I'm not settled yet into which environment and OS I want to get invested into yet.

@JRLarsen it surprised the hell out of me when you said something about getting a Microsoft device the other day and had arch and rust in your handle. Look into coreboot.I’m about to drop money on the 12th gen Intel system76 hardware (release date keeps getting pushed). If it sucks, then it will be the first & last Linux native coreboot laptop but I’m putting faith in their work.Purism partially has my interests too but their NITS brightness sucks.

@lispi314 @JRLarsen I think I'm at a point in my life where after the apple M1 processor I'd say "is it using x86..? No? Okay you're compiling all the packages for it then." Lol. Nothing against RISC but I haven't heard anyone mention it to me in close to a decade. I guess that's how you know you're on the outskirts of the internet with some smart people lol.

@ozoned @rysiek what he just did to Tesla was despicable - said there was no more remote workers everyone back to office, to get people to quit - said economy is crumbling soon! Has a quote something like: “Too many stupid people with too much money” - laid off 10% of work force at Tesla. If you left before this, you’re not getting the severance package. What a dick. This is why reddits antiwork has so much attention.

@mike @kev @david I'd be so surprised if a fork isn't WIP or if there isn't a fork already.IMO VS-Codium is probably the best editor - the fork of VS-Code.I can't get away from this 6 panel deal. 2 terminals split view, dual editors (expandable to more), a fixed menu on the left with a menu explorer to the right of it.Im a REPL guy anyways, so I basically just need a text editor and terminal but its worth mentioning this project too.https://vscodium.com/

@mike @kev @david The big problem for *me* was that in Glasswire on Windows and OSX- LittleSnitch I was able to catch Visual Studio Code sending my keystrokes to some Microsoft owned IP.I dug into it, and it was a "natural language service!". LOL.https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues/49161https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28812486Thats when I went over to VS-Codium. The binaries from microsoft are a god damn snake pit. Last thing I want sent is my code, esp. if its proprietary for work.
