@mgorny I don't trust cloud, and best cloud is local storage.My brother gave me old mac pro before he died (from 2012?) I transformed this PC as storage for my backups. This machine can have up to 6 disks.

@mgorny Każdy może się pomylić. Nawet jakiś czas temu Linux Tech Tips mieli nieprzyjemności ponieważ ktoś odpalił malware w pośpiechu. To mógł być każdy. Dlatego lepiej nigdy nie mówmy nigdy, ponieważ bywa różnie. Kiedyś myślałem że nie jestem "na tyle głupi" i po co mi backupy ... jak usunąłem swoją pracę przypadkiem i byłem zmuszony odpalić testdisk to nagle zaszły zmiany 😆

@mgorny Gentoo increase in value overtime, because we have faster machines available. Compile time aren't issue or excuse anymore.Having source-based system is privilege. The stability is shocking in positive sense. Most distros are overloaded with stuff that people don't even use or need. It's hard not to love this distro. Control is double edged sword, but it learns a lot. I'm really grateful for all the work, btw. tinynotify-send is really great.

@BrodieOnLinux I can only say that i like hyprland, and really don't care about drama's. People of color, or trans-whatever... usually are the first with problem that doesn't even exist. The most offended and problematic groups in the world... and most irrational.

@BrodieOnLinux I don't buy anything from EA, and never will. If game don't exist on gog without DRM i would prefer to avoid that game.We are voting with money. It's sad that this company have rights to Dungeon keeper series. Still remember that dungeon mobile crap.

cloning into uSUSr 😂 IDK, when i pressed ctrl + r - i really did typo. #FreeBSD world rebuild + kernel didn't took long. Now i want to dig into /etc/make.conf and check how people determine what will be pulled if i set different config options. It's not like portage, but on linux side i didn't see docker, lxc or lxd as nice choice (at least for me, don't judge me) ... On the other hand jails looks great. It's worth the effort and i love it (i will never leave #gentoo btw).

"Compiling the whole operating system from source code sounds like a painful, complicated process, and useless to boot. But with BSD, it's the normal way to upgrade the system. And it's a lot easier than you might think. "I love this. And i will be always grateful for things learned on Gentoo. You can't go wrong, if you put more effort.

@vermaden @grahamperrin I noticed that article is dated, but i really enjoyed reading. Personally, i found that for Linux user - knowing Gentoo is still beneficial in transition to FreeBSD. Also, i don't want to be delusional and believing that "only that way is the correct way" - I just found that some points are timeless, and they resonates with me. How much of it is still true?I know everything move forward, but there must be something - i want to know :blobcat:

I'm thinking about joining bsd.cafe in future now. You are right that people are important. This is another good reason to mv.Most of linux materials on web are desktop related. I wanted something like jails and ... pf is very simple firewall - 5 min of setup ... i don't want to tell how long took me netfilter 1st time.
