I know Americans are probably baffled at why Australian #elections are more festivity than football match, but I'll try to explain a few things.#Voting in Australia, even down to council elections, are compulsory. If you've ever registered to vote, you must vote, or cop a $50 fine.With this in mind, our electoral commissions (state and federal) are well funded and fully independent. You must not be a member of a political party to be employed by them.So we must vote, and the votes are independently managed by a well funded commission. All that's left is the actual voting.When voting, lines are generally pretty short, but even if they're not, there's food and drinks freely available to those waiting; the most famous of these are the democracy sausage (a sausage with a slice of bread, sauce, and maybe onions), and the democracy cake stalls.As much as there are political parties out the front of polling centres, they must to be on their best behaviour, lest they be banned

The big test for the Liberal Party today is whether their members cross the floor to vote for the censure of Scott Morrison. Fletcher has made clear the party won't be voting for it, without any real explanation (he tried, but it's just the same gibberish we got from Scotty for years).If the Liberal Party can't move on from Scott Morrison and censure him, then they will always be wed to his subversion of parliament, and openly corrupt behaviour #auspol

I'm noticing a lot of "I'm bored of Mastodon, I'm going back to #Twitter" posts.In case they are genuine, here's what I've found works:⚫ try to post content, not complaints. Reply! Reply! Everyone wants to know someone's reading and considering their content, even you⚫ Don't lurk. Many of us check for a filled out profile, avatars, and posts, before we follow someone back⚫ Chill. It's a big new world that doesn't serve everything up to you⚫ Avoid the trap of rebuilding Twitter hereFeel free to link this post to people struggling with Mastodon. It's what I've found works, and may not work for everyone

@stux hehehe, yeh, you really need to do as many side quests as possible, become a god, then fight him 😆 I think I'm right at that point with my last playthrough, because I just didn't want to fight Adam again 😖

@johnquiggin personally, I'd rather just pay for a cpanel site and have control over your own content. It's how I ran my blog back when I was writing on the NBN. I had to upgrade it a few times until I found the right balance between bandwidth and cost, but it was about $30/mo for my 50k-200k impressions per article blog
