All of the good parts of new Reddit could've been implemented with some CSS on old Reddit and it would be 0.1x as slow

The #Debian download page is a great example for how confusing a supposedly simple thing can be. #UX

Here’s an idea: Open Source Discord clone. Take a FOSS chat platform (Mattermost, Rocket Chat, Zulip, whatever), hook up text channels to voice/video rooms (Mumble/Jitsi Meet). Lots of inspiration taken from Telegram. V1: Button to open the associated room in a new tabV2: Button to open the room in a widget on the page/DisconnectV3: Show who’s connected to the room on the join button/barV3.1: Show who’s talkingSeems somewhat simple. Is it really not a thing yet? Why?

What would you do if this guy came up to you and said „I'm doing a (free) operating system (just a hobby, won't be big and professional like gnu) for 386(486) AT clones. This has been brewing since april, and is starting to get ready. I'd like any feedback on things people like/dislike in minix, as my OS resembles it somewhat (same physical layout of the file-system (due to practical reasons) among other things).“

@Gamercat @JainSame and it makes sense if you totally reduce the definition ad absurdum. Too bad it doesn't solve the reconciliation problem, which is the whole point of "blockchain".

@Gamercat @Jain Funnily enough IBM defines a blockchain as "a shared, immutable ledger for recording transactions, tracking assets and building trust" (https://www.ibm.com/topics/what-is-blockchain) which would allow such a classification (if you ignore what "building trust" was supposed to mean, which I think blockchain grifters are happy to).

I'm torn on image captions. On one hand they're great for accessibility. On the other hand they sometimes mean an immense effort for the people posting. So much so that I generally think hard whether it's worth it to post a picture and I often decide against it.

@dysfun This is an interesting idea. What if the wider fediverse adopted such a policy? i.e.#fediblock suggestion: #wildbeestAn ActivityPub server that currently only runs on #Cloudflare infrastructure.

@iska @keith This sounds a lot like hardlinking. Which may *kind of* be a workaround for the use case, right? Hardlink the file into the epic.blend directory, if it gets deleted elsewhere it'll still be present there.
