@SitaDulip Pretty much any distro will work for you. I'd suggest choosing one you're most familiar with. If you're using specific server software see what they support (including versions). If those services are packaged by a distribution, check their versions if being super up-to-date is important.

@packetcat local dnsmasq to the local wifi router which I thought used Google (it's a Google wifi access point) but uses Cloudflare.

@evan The issue with the poll is it doesn't say what sort of governance. You'll probably get a split of answers depending on if people think its governance of the protocols or of the operation.

I've uploaded the #Debian #WordPress release 6.7 packages last night. I've re-jigged the auto update code so it doesn't complain; if you're using the package you're using Debian updates. Also the #AppArmor profile will probably need tweaking as it looks like there is another directory.

@Taweret Seems odd that so many [town] style pizzas are the worst pizzas.

I had a request for #procps watch to support OSC 8 escape sequences, these will give a link in a text screen. At the moment, they'll appear something like ^]e8;blahThe issue is watch uses #ncurses and I'm pretty sure that doesn't support OSC 8 so I'm left with having to just strip out the escape sequences and URL possibly.

It's the same issue with supporting large numbers of colours; #ncurses just doesn't do anything much beyond the ANSI colours. The solution to both is to drop one level down and use the tinfo library, the main issue with that is ncurses "remembers" where characters are so updates and marking changes are easier, tinfo doesn't.

@jwildeboer That same debate occurred within Debian too which pre-dates the OSI discussion. There were some odd restrictions out there; quite a few Debian people were hamradio operators and knew of the odd "no CB" clauses some software had.The issue was that if you make arbitrary decisions on "good" and "bad" use it gets very difficult t make a sensible distribution because you slice your distribution N ways. There's also the idea it's against open source ideals.

Something odd has happened with #Linux sessions. I got a bug report that w no longer correctly reports user idle time. The idle time is determined by stat()ing the users tty device for last access time and taking that away from the current time. The idea is that every time the user interacts with the host, the tty access time updates.Except now it doesn't always happen and I'm not sure why or even how to fix it.

@glent Thanks Glen, that's what I'm seeing everywhere (that /dev/tty2 doesnt update the atime anymore).I even tried xfce on Xorg and that also had the issue, so it's not just Gnome. I'm not sure what changed to make this not work anymore.

@sethmlarson I don't think it is just security reports but some bug reports in general. I get the impression the reporter doesn't know what they're reporting beyond whatever the automated tool said.

It seems this #procps w idle issue goes wider. I've gone back to Debian 9 with kernel 4.19 and its still there.I think for a long time that w has not reported the idle time for a X/Wayland user correctly and what is worse there looks like there is no way to actually find out.#linux
