       @riggbeck @bookstodon I read classics and they are laden with racism, misogyny, all sorts of repulsive shaming. But those works act as a snapshot of society. They tell us where we were, who and what we were, and how far we’ve come. They also serve as a warning so that we don’t go back there again. Rewriting literature, children’s fiction or otherwise, is rewriting history. It’s detrimental to progress, IMHO.
