@pounce Well, the usual advice is to slow way down. You probably know that already though. Maybe listen to it played really slow?

@pounce memes are basically bumper stickers from hell. Your choice, though.

       I built a thing. It's just a 9-bass but it can play a few songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6V9Kw87OYE

@pounce auto reformat both branches to have the same tab settings and then merge? Diffs should work better then.

@salixlucida I guess we've started believing in summoning spells again, but apparently all you get are more ads? It seems a bit weak compared to older myths.

@pounce I do like how Go uses capital letters for public identifiers though.

@nolan This depends on the software's connections to the outside world. I have hobbyist programs running on App Engine that I need to touch maybe once every 5 years or so. (But it would be different if I had used anything other than core services.)Or consider emulators. The games themselves doesn't need to change because the software changes around them. Check out ifarchive.org for some decades-old games that still run fine today.Software running on embedded systems tends to last as long as the hardware it's embedded in. This is probably fine as long as it's not connected to the Internet.

@pounce I don't know anyone there and it's a big company. But assuming things aren't all that different from Google, I'd guess people are kinda liberal (like other bay area companies). Also you'd be working more closely with full time employees, not other interns? Might be a good question to ask.

@pounce just a dumb joke. There have been lots of event cancellations in the news recently.

@pounce did you end up with Facebook? They're rich and they probably have fancy videoconferencing, so hopefully they won't cancel even if it's not over by then.

@InvaderXan It seems like it should be about how the people react to the situation, to try to solve it or otherwise deal with it? Also it needs to be an interesting problem to have, where how to deal with it isn't immediately clear.

@InvaderXan It seems like if it's an interesting problem then a character should learn something from having to deal with it. And if they learned something then they should do better in the future. If they didn't learn anything, that would be disappointing. But it's not clear to me whether it's how people change that's inherently interesting, or if this is just a good sign that the problem is interesting? They go together. It seems hard to separate.I guess a way to test this would be to compare a story where the problem is vague but you see how the protagonist changed, versus one where you get a good idea of what the problem was and how it was solved, but what the protagonist learned is unclear. But I think either of those would be weaker than a story that has both?
