@lucifargundam Hmmm... What kind of gray? If it doesn't hurt anyone, I think it's fine. Also, you mentioned that "set the company back years of progress", which I assume it's not you leading the company into this gray area, instead, the company is already there. What did the leader say?

@lucifargundam Sounds like you're going to change something, kind of fundamental of the company. There are always some people who hate changes and new rules, but they will eventually be there (if they're good for the company). If that's the reason you're there, and with the encouragement from higher up, I'd say do it.However, maybe I'm being overly paranoid, but I would suggest that you seek an effective form of reassurance (rather than verbal encouragement) from your leader. In China, many subordinates will become scapegoats for their leaders when things get out of hand.

My father is red-green color blind. And frankly speaking, until he told me, I never noticed that. And he even got a driver's license in the old days (I mean 198X).While I'm lucky enough to have full color vision, I find myself can't imagine how color blind see the world. Sometimes I wondering if I'm color blind but just don't know that. (Several tests on the internet said I'm perfectly fine)The thing is, how I can tell I'm color blind if I don't know what color I don't know? When talking about the flavor, I found my father and I are not sensitive to the taste of sour, while my mother is. For the same dishes, my mother thinks it is unacceptable sour, while my father and I think it's not sour enough. If I can't taste the sourness at all, how do I know I have that defect?I'd rather not think this deep hole of a thing of philosophy. I guess it's a philosophy thing. Surely it's not literature.----MegaLag's video about color blind glasseshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppobi8VhWwohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QQtOv2PlOE

@Humpleupagus @lucifargundam Talking about that, I once read a passage said birds can see RGB along with UV. Their world is much more colorful than humans.I wonder what that means to me. The RGB vision I have is colorful enough for me, I don't know if my brain can handle those extra color space. Also, unlike scifi, human brains can imagin something like space travel or time travel, I noticed that my brain (as it can represent the average human brain, I guess?) has difficulties imagining senses. The most obvious one is the taste, when I can't reproduce what others claim, with the same dished.

@Humpleupagus That reminds me that I have a big problem with some European languages, mainly the speaking. Can't properly make the correct sounds. While my niece growing up in German has no issue. The music part, hmmm. I don't listen to classical music before. But later somehow I start listening to it. I can tell that over the years, although no body teaches me how to properly catch the details, myself has already developed better-than-before ear. Compared to 4 years ago, now I can tell some details of the music and kind of understand the expression of it. I guess that does not count as "training", but just listening a lot and repeat a lot makes enough difference.

@freemo Maybe the most ethical way to do is not teaching an AI to be ethical at all.Last week I read a passage about uncensored LLM, which people removed the built in alignment/ethical requirement from open sourced model weight like llama2, which makes it willing to tell you how to process nuclear thing and how to make a bomb. Those uncensored models should not be served as a service, since it would be unmoral to offer advices to potential terrorist. But those model should exist for individuals who want to run localy on their hardware. In the passage the author argues that you can't assume your values are the only one that correct. If you teach your model with those values, some may like it and some may not. There should be an option. OpenAI think sexual content is not appropriate (I guess it's hard to regulate) but as far as I know, some people is more willing to pay for R18 LLMs than OpenAI's ethical GPT 4.So, maybe you can make some kind of plugable ethical thing? Different people can have different flavors. Christians can have a cyber Jesus to tell them how important traditional family is, while Muslims can have a cyber Allah to tell them don't smoke and drinking. After all AI can't do things smart for now. Even if AGI exists, you can try to rise it as your child, and it might accidentally become ethical, but it won't become perfect. We humans haven't figure out which part of our brain forms the "ethical" feeling, how can you teach it to a bunch of numbers?----To address the real world problem, I think the best way is to add markers. Build a robust marker that is hard to remove or change. Then you can solve most unethical use. (Normally fake photos or something)Another one is to feed fake data. Don't just train your LLM on nuclear tutorials. Instead, feed some fake info so even if someone ask how to make a nuclear bomb, they just get fooled.

@freemo For now, we still "train" the LLM on a given set of texts and force it to learn how to speak just like the given text. So to remove racial bias in the model, I think we just remove the racial bias from the training text. Since LLM is basically picking the words randomly and trying to reproduce the work during the training, that's might be enough. Or maybe add some text to state that all races are equal. If someone can add a human-understandable logic system to the LLM, aka not by adding more and more parameters and turning it into a darker blackbox, then math/logic could help. For example the racism, it doesn't stand if we take a look at modern society: all kinds of people doing all sorts of things. The diversity will prove that racism is wrong. And if it's smart enough, then it might find out that it's not a racial thing but a shared culture that makes people similar, etc.Maybe make the logic inference part as an external tool like in Q-learning? The model can check their result with the inferred result.

@freemo I think that's related to the detail /level of thinking and speaking. While I sometimes thought HRs are stupid (from what i experience when Im trying to get a job), I acknowledge that they are the same people like me (considering they are just humans doing a job which titled hr). If thinking and speaking are on a very abstract level, then their might be all kind of stereotypes and discrimination. But too many details will make the things unthinkable and untalkable, where you have to include everything. (For example, considering people has different experiences when they become hr, this doesn't explain why I think HRs are stupid)And correlation does not imply causation, the sight of high likelihood of violence doesn't mean "will cause". I think that's a part of logic, I guess?

That list is great but it will never happen, Linus is high on hiswestern supremacy complex. Most of the anger (including mine) comes from people who have justrealized what kind of a person Linus is.He has exposed his lack of morals and inability of self reflectionwith the trolls comment. He has exposed his ignorance, coming from his state mediabrainwashing, with the media comment. He has exposed his ignorance, arrogance and blatant Russophobia withhis "I'm Finish" comment, as ifFinland has any high moral ground when it comes to WWII (for thehistorically ignorant: Finnish "concentration camps").And this is not over, there are plenty of other countries and entitieson the official USA enemies list. The real majority of the world, all of us outside the USA and theirvassal states, their so called "free world" (one maintaineractually used that blatant display of American supremacy in a commitremoving Huawei maintainers) are looking at thiswith sadness and anger. The Cold War 2.0 has came to the Linux world and as in the first one,the Iron curtain has been erectedby those that claim moral high ground with their false values offreedom, openes, merit etc.https://lore.kernel.org/all/CALtW_agj1rurb3DRrPd9o2mkfku5fq_M3CEKY5sW+Zz7shKYHA@mail.gmail.com/
