RIP to a great one.A personal story in relation to the late, great Scott Adams...way back in ye olden days of the late 1990s, when "Dilbert" was part of the cultural zeitgeist, I was graduating from an airline & travel industry trade school. This was one of those schools that helped with job placement and even had corporate recruiters come to conduct interviews. One day, recruiters for a firm called Lowestfare-dot-com came to my school seeking new talent. So I, along with most others in my class, applied for the job and went in for interviews. Now, my turn came up. There I am, in my best Mens Wearhouse suit, sitting across from some slick corporate fellas from the home office in Las Vegas looking like they were right out of "Wall Street" or "American Psycho". There was all the corporate hemming, hawing, shucking & jiving; when they presented me with an important question..."What is your ideal work environment?"To which I answered, simply & succinctly..."I don't want to work in a Dilbert comic."The rest of the interview carried on uneventfully, with the typical unctuous sheen of professional bullshittery. No reaction from them to that shot of unfiltered realness.That was, until the next day, when I found out that Lowestfare-dot-com had hired everyone else in my class, but me.At the time, I was in despair, wondering if anyone would hire me. But as time, life, and my career in passenger transportation went on, I would find out that it was a good thing that Lowestfare-dot-com didn't hire me; not only would the firm go down upon the burst of the Dot-Com Bubble, but it was connected to the Dread Pirate (((Carl Icahn))).Long story short, Scott Adams helped me dodge a bullet.May his works and words help you dodge bullets of your own.
